Now ive been lurking for quite a while and ive always fancied the coupe' but never really had the opportunity to own one. ive always been too sensible and on the one occasion the relative of a friend was selling his he adopted a rip off price so i was put off.

Now the time has come to start looking laugh

Ive seen many appear on ebay, im not quite sure where to start looking.

Anyway, back to my humble request. Are there any seasoned coupe' owners out there that would be able to give me some valued opinions on some cars and perhaps come along to view one or two with me?

Im fairly technical but me going alone would be a bit daunting and i want to be able to identify and dismiss a 'wrong-un' as opposed to be drawn into the sale.

Im happy to return the favour when i buy one and lend a willing pair of hands to any spanner work that needs doing on yours (or moral support and tea making) smile

I know im asking a lot but you guys seem like a great bunch of people with a massive amount of experience.

Anyways, heres hoping smile

Rudi

Oh im based in sw london but im open to travel to get a good Coupe'

Oh, oh, and i love them in yellow, black, the pinky metallic, the light blue is also growing on me, hmmmm, as i said im open !

If you ever need to view a coupe in or around the Birmingham/Coventry area, I'll go with you to check it over if you like. Just give a bit of notice and if im not busy I dont mind going along.

For the record the colours you like are Broom Yellow, Ink Black, Portofino Blue and Sprint Blue, so now you can keep a look out for the names smile

Rudi

you have been lurking a while, haven't you? - Registered in 2005 and still haven't taken the plunge?

Still - you've probably gathered by now that there's quite a lot of poor Coupes out there - buy a cheap one and it will invariably cost you more in the long run.

Personally, I would start my search by trawling through the for sale ads on this forum and look at some cars for sale from longstanding forum members. You'll be able to search through all the posts ever made by the seller, to see what problems the car has had, how (if) they were fixed, what mods have been done etc etc

Basically, you'll get a better picture of a forum member's car BEFORE you see it than you even will with a sale from a non-member

For example - here's an ad for a metallic pink (porto) from Joe - one of the forum's tame specialists

http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=943589#Post943589

Good luck (although if you buy from the likes of Joe, you won't need it)

Hi Rudi. Like yourself I was a lurker for about a year before I purchased my coop. Some good advise already been given to you.
Personally I would be willing to travel anywhere in the UK if the right motor came up. Apart from needing a close eye on things when running your coop, your instincts will let you know when the right car comes along. Cosmetics can be dealt with easily with time & money of course, but its the lump under the bonnet that is the most important thing. When you see a full history & a folder full of receipts that's a good start....... Best of luck....Jim. smile

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time
