Having been accused of not being friendly enough wink Mr L and I would like to meet some other coop owners.
To that end we would like to organise a Derbyshire mid week mini meet.

Plan is meeting at The Peacock at Oakerthorpe early eveningish for a bit of tyre kicking and a quick drink (The Peacock has a large car park and beer garden and just happens to be right across from our house!!) then a nice drive through the Derbyshire countryside up to Monsal Head which is a really nice Derbyshire beauty spot where there also happens to be 2 very nice pubs where we can get a bite to eat.

What does everyone think? We planned to do it mid week as the roads and pubs will be a lot less busy.
So . . . .

1) Mrs_Lickyl and Mr LickyL

YAY! This sounds like it'll be nice. 1st July is a Wednesday - is this ok with everyone. We definitely don't want to do Thursday as the Peacock is a well known boy racer / cruise venue on a Thursday night and the sight of all those corsas / vectras / saxos will put me off my pint!

I'm excited about meeting everyone. smile

Also - to people who can't make it this time - we could make it a regular thing in the future?

Bad news - I won't be able to make it. I've been waiting for a date for surgery and it just came through for next Monday. So, I'll still be in recovery. cry

Mr L and our friend Tim in the integrale are still very much up for this so it is definitely still on. I'll definitely be at the next one!!

If anyone still wants to come to this - Mr L and his mate Tim will still be going (I had surgery on Monday so am still recuperating). You can meet Mr L in the Peacock car park about 6pm ish and then meet Tim en route. If you can't make it this week but are still interested in a Derbyshire run then let us know and we can organise one for another time.

So - my diary of events yesterday.

1. left work early at 4.30.
2. Got a bite to eat and left Macclesfield around 5.15.
3. Arrived at The Peacock at just after 6.15. No coupes!
4. Hung around until about 6.45 and decided I must have missed them, so drove back to Monsal.
5. Hung around to 7.45ish and quit.
6. Spend rest of the evening in my local pub, where I bumped into one of the other coupe owners in the village!

1. Got home at 6 and washed Coupe
2. Got showered up and missus got ready
3. Drove to peacock at about 8. No Coupes
4. No Car at Lickyls so knew they were out.
5. Drove to Matlock had the most expensive worst Fish and chips ever!!
6. Drove round some random roads including Stanton in peak and Bonsall
7. Got tired and went home!

It was ok actually! sort of a mission to track down the infamous "Red Coupe of lickyl". I didnt succeed..... The mission continues...........

Right I'm really angry with Mr L now. He did wait at the Peacock but plainly he didn't wait long enough. grr However, I did put that Mr L would be at the Peacock at 6 and nobody really replied to say they were definitely coming?

It's not a problem - the drive down was quite fun (Cat and Fiddle, down to Newhaven and across), and obviously a pleasant pint in the Monsal, some nice views and pleasant sunshine. A fairly rapid drive back to Happy Valley, followed by half a dozen pints in the local.

My wife seems to imply that I rather too good an evening, as it happens :-)

There's the Hope Valley Lions classic car show in July sometime, but may be too late to organise anything tho'.....

Hope Valley car show is 12th July http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news2/Classic-cars-to-roar-in.5368220.jp which unfortunately is a little too soon for me to get into a car (especially since I need help getting up out of a chair!)

We definitely need to reorganise a Derbyshire meet properly next month?

I'd find it hard to get to any midweek meets, due to my working hours, but if it's any help and I know it's not until next year, but if anyones interested, I was going to arrange a Club stand at The Chatsworth Rally Show 2010.

I was too late for this years show, but it would be great to get some Coupes together for Chatsworth next year.

Keep your eye out for a thread about this around October/November this year smile

I'm interestedin these too - the 1st July just didn't work for me, but that doesn't mean future ones wont. Its about 60 miles for me, so I need a fairly clear day work-wise for it to work.

Chatsworth would be great, Theresa.

It looks dated already to me. The interior is also plasticy and I wish the shark gils were more than just sculpts.
The car now seems to drift from side instead of steering like a normal car
