We had our annual runway bash here at RAF Brize Norton yesterday, i'd never run a car on one before so i thought i'd give it a bash considering i'd never done one before. The weather was mostly ok with patches of heavy rain, it soon dried out though.

Car is a 20VT with Standard turbo @ 1.25 bar (usually run at 1 - 1.2), Pro alloy FMIC, SIP, Apexi filter, Cat back exhaust, Greddy Profec B Spec 2 EBC, GTEC 2.

Fastest run i did of the day was 14.33 @ 112mph which i was happy with considering i'd never done a 1/4 before, i'll just have to practice my launch to see if i can get the time down!

I know some coupe's attended last year but mine was the only one there today so i couldnt have a direct comparrison, but i did go up against a leon cupra-r, a megange renault sport 225 stupidly long name f1 thing, as well as a few other cars.

Managed to get 20 runs in total not bad for 30 quid! plus we got to do a top speed run down the runway but i backed off at 154 lol.

Alright dude? You were telling me about this at the meet.

When is the next one of these? Sounds like a total bargain and top fun. Should get a few Coops together.

14.3 @ 112mph

Sounds like a great event but I'm sure you meant 102mph?

Usually Jimbo advises us all but he's been off swanning about the US of A for the past while.

One of my previous 1/4 miles was a 14.3 @ 99.8 mph. I guess surface and tyres play a big part

The times were given to us on slips by the company running the timing equipment.

Then I wouldn't bother going again to be honest

I have a list of road test 1/4 mile times and terminals for 401 cars. Between 14.3 and 13.3 there are 91 cars that post a 95-111mph terminal. The one that does get the 111mph terminal is a Lotus Carlton. The first car to actually break the 112mph terminal is a 2004 Mercedes S65 AMG... and that posted a 13.3...

Trust me, your Coupé wouldn't get a 112mph terminal in 14.3 seconds. No FWD car would.

Well maybe if you had the worst start in history but got superb traction in 2nd gear onwards.

I think I did a 14.1 on the runway bash last year, but my terminal was 106 IIRC....

Terminal speed is more suggestive of outright power. Most coupes hitting 112mph terminal will have 340-350bhp as a minimum.

roadtests don't factor in slip at all. I've done a 13.7 @ 123mph.

Using a G-Tech I managed
0-100m 5.64sec
200m 9,09sec
400m 13.59sec @ 176.4kph (or 109.5mph)
That was at around 340fly and shot front dumpers with new tyres and a lot of wheelspin.

Of course they don't, they get a perfect run on a 'normal' surface on an airstrip or similar. Besides your car is a little different to most now isn't it ;\)

What is your best 1/4 time and terminal John? It's a shame they don't do a standing kilometre strip...

There you go. Although the G-tec isn't going to be the most accurate measuring device, it shows that this car on a grippy drag strip could put in a 13.3@ 112mph.

Best time is still 12.9 did a long time ago with a different setup. Best terminal was I think 13.1@127mph again with a different setup. I would guess with my traction control and extra power I could do low 11s but probably won't be going to a strip anytime soon

Errr ill apologise as well guys, i could probably have mentioned that it was going on but was sorta lost without Jimbos advice as to whether it was open to the public.

Nice to see you got some good runs in though mate \:D you'll have to try and pop down to the next track session we do at Odiham!
