( Mods, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place) I'm near the 100k milestone, which is low by some cars on here So I'm interested in doing a poll, on standard-ish cars 16v's and 20v's, N/A and Turbo's, even 1.8 16V's if any's about So how is your high mileage Coupé going? What parts have been replaced ? (Not the wear and tear stuff like tyres, brake pads, handbrake cables though if anyone is on 100k originals feel free to post or upgrades like bonnet lifters, grills etc) Who's still on original parts/engines Here's mine to start, going by the paperwork with my car on some of this, anything in brackets, I've had done on the car. Original engine 98643 miles (Knocking on wood ) 1 recondition turbo 1 clutch 2 sets of front discs 1 manifold (almost 2 yrs ago) 1 radiator (almost 2 yrs ago) 1 power steering rack (almost 2 yrs ago) 1 seized rear brake capiler (almost 2 yrs ago) 1 dump valve (a year ago) 1 clutch slave (last summer) Blisteins shocks (last summer) 2nd set of wishbones (last summer, polybushed set) 2nd belts change (last summer 1st at 57k !) And that's about it.................so far! I'm still on the original oil cooler and pipes! The pipes were cleaned up and painted as there was no cooler/pipes around last summer when I got the belts done. What do you reckon, keep going with them or fit new ones ASAP???

I`m on 114K, original engine, turbo, gearbox, calipers, driveshafts, coilpacks, steering rack. Pretty much everything else replaced in some cases more than once. Clutch lasted til 112K still no slippage when changed but was getting very heavy and it was getting too easy to beat the synchromesh.

Agree on getting the cooler sorted, the pipes go porous over time and a bit of paint this late in there lives wont save them.

136k miles(2bar+ warm idle), I've had it 18 months(10k miles) and I've replaced the following:
Wishbones Shocks Springs Topmounts Turbo Intercooler Oil cooler & pipes Cam cover gasket Exhaust manifold gasket x 2 Complete exhaust including downpipe Brake disks Pads Brake pipes/hoses throughout the car Rear brake compensator Radiator Track rod ends Rear anti-roll bar Gear linkage Just about to replace clutch/flywheel. Probably some other stuff too.
Still on the original engine, gearbox etc and it's still got very good compression too. Most of the items were replaced as preventative maintenance rather than failures though, then replaced with uprated parts.
Cheers,
Mark

116k Still on original (AFAIK) turbo, engine, oil cooler and pipes, shocks, gearbox, calipers, driveshafts, coilpacks, steering rack, exhaust (not long to live though ), clutch (starting to slip and will need changing shortly), manifold - gasket leaking - to be fixed with clutch, belts changed once and will be done again with clutch - poor wallet Replaced - disks, radiator, wishbones, track rod ends, cam-cover gasket.

150K miles, pretty much everything has been changed 2 or 3 times, with the exception of the engine, which still has perfect compression and hot idle

Oil Cooler and pipes at 98k Wishbones at 98k CSC Cat back Exhaust courtesy of Paddy at 98k Rocker Cover Gasket at 100k Auxillary belts and tensioners at 100k Radiator at 100k (third radiator on this car) Manifold at 100k (a repaired one from CarlT). Mines just coming upto 150k changed most things on it in the year i have owned it including ecu and wiring loom (water leak from windscreen) which also killed the engine, so changed that too. The engine has done 84k now and comp tested it today 155psi on each cylinder. My gearbox went just before i changed the engine so thats been changed with a new uprated clutch at the same time as fitting my engine. I bet i have spent about £2000 this year easy (dare't check as my make me cry) on doing all the work and thats on parts alone (no labour charge as i do it all myself). I hope it all carries on for another 150k Ash

Is it fair to assume that most of the higher mile cars with high pressures are running a 15w50 oil, or are these on 10w40. This should make at least a half bar difference I'd have thought?

I ran 10/40 semi-synth until a year ago, now run 10/50 fully synth. I didn't notice much of a difference in pressure, certainly not half a bar.

Maybe not then, but given your earlier post I wouldn't expect you to have seen a massive improvement.... the engine... still has perfect compression and hot idle
