I have always fitted and run Toyo tyres - 225/45 R 16.

I now need two new tyres, but no one seems to have them in stock (back order with delivery in June).

is there a good/better alternative? I need them in the next few days

Hi

Tried these guys?

Not much choice now, run the Nexens myself. Good tyre, handling fine, noise a bit less than Toyos previously run. These though were previous gen Toyos.

Have to add in cost to get garage to fit them, up to £30 for the 2.

Cheers

Andrew

Last time I had any fitted it was Toyos, but found they wore quite quickly. Previously I had Eagle F1's and when I changed all four last year I went back to them (latest version) and have been very pleased I did. I know they sort of went out of favour with folks, but not sure why, really!

Mine are 225 / 45 / R17 and I find the noise pretty low and the ride and handling everything it out to be. They feel just as safe in the wet as the dry too.

Just my 2 cents, if it helps with choice - don't buy Uniroyal Rainsport 5.

I have 20vt with non OE dimension 215/45 R17.

Previously I've run 2 sets of Rainsport 3, 1st was normal rating, the second XL rated (couldn't tell a difference); been pleased with both, not a "sport" tyre but decent handling, comfort and really sure-footed in the wet. Also used on another FWD car with 200bhp in OE size 225/40 R18, no complaints. Also, moderate wear on all 3 sets - don't do high mileage, so I'm ok with needing to replace tyres due to age (around 4y old) even if not worn completly (eg. to 3mm or less).
Last year, I've bought new model, Rainsport 5 (XL rated), but it's a total letdown, really squishy handling with plenty of understeer, it's still good in the wet but on dry road it just feels too soft.
