Hi there. Ah, ULEZ - thanks mr mayor, what a nightmare. Bought my Coupe in 1999, owned it from new, only done 88K miles. But then moved 2 roads inside the new expanded ULEZ zone. Never go into London, but still need to travel out about 400m to get on the motorway. So literally now costs me £12.50 every time I start it up. Just wondered if anyone else was in the same boat? Heartbreaking as it's been a really good friend over the years and is running beautifully. Shame there's a 3 month wait on getting access to the sales/wanted part of the forum - would be great to pass it onto a coupe enthusiast.

I have two customers who are in the same boat so there Coupes haven't left their garages until they've come to terms selling might be the case. As for you selling it I'd be interested as you've owned it since new, please give me a call or email, cheers, Joe. 01684 593187 f_c_s_s@hotmail.com

sleepur, your links have been moved to another section because, as you correctly point out, they are not allowed unless they are part of the agreed format as indicated in my post to above this one. You have applied for seller's permission already so incorporate them into the ad when it's ready; you have plenty of good photos ready to post Thanks Edinburgh, happy to comply.

They are expanding it again next year 2023 to cover everything inside the M25 . This will affect me as i live about 1.5 outside the current ULEZ on the A406 . I am pissed about this as my 20VT and 16VT will be affected also my Strada . My Fiat 131 is nearing completion this summer and will not be affected as its 43 years old tax free /mot free and ULEZ exempt .

So you just have to keep the Coupes and Strada in hibernation for 10-15 years or so...

We had this up here in Inverness shire. I was puzzled at first, the tyre tracks on the roads showed up in a way that I had never seen before. It took me a while to workout what it exactly was.

So you just have to keep the Coupes and Strada in hibernation for 10-15 years or so... Well i have other things on my mind like interest rate hike,recession,Covid19 ,another pandemic, monkey pox and the threat of Nuclear war . Looking forward to the day i drive my 131 ULEZ exempt into central London for free just to piss off the mayor . I will post a picture on his twitter account Strada has 6 years to go ,16VT has 15 years 20VT has 17 years to be ULEZ free .

Yes most councils have cameras on nearly every street i know Redbridge does . They have vans in central London to catch people . Do the online consultation and try and stop this f£$ker https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/cleanair?tool=survey_tool . Its a disgrace this is even allowed when we will shortly be paying £10 per gallon of petrol . I paid £8.32 per gallon in tesco today .

Could someone explain how this works; next year I'll be inside the ULEZ zone (hope not), if I drive within that area and avoid cameras. How would they know? The previous ULEZ used to be a smaller zone. They then expanded it so that the boundary is now the North and South Circular. Although that was a 18x increase in area, they only needed to install an additional 750 cameras. That's cos they can use existing traffic cameras & ANPR technology to make a really accurate guess on whether you are driving your car in ULEZ zone. Drivers are already tracked by this tech more than they realise, and it only becomes apparent if a regulation gets broken and an ANPR catches you doing it. The new zone will just check an extra regulation - i.e. "is the car that drove just past me ULEZ compliant?" They've done a pretty good job of enforcing the boundary near me. All the exits/entrances are covered by new cameras, and it's literally impossible to beat it. There are a couple of back roads I can drive down for 5 mins where there are no cameras, but the minute I venture onto the high street or major thoroughfare, there is an ANPR enabled camera ready to talk the ULEZ database. I would imagine the new zone will be similar - i.e. The new boundary will be the M25, which already has high camera density around it. Crossing that boundary will be made even more watertight (& lucrative) with new cameras, major routes will be tightened up, and existing cameras/tech on other routes all co-ordinating. And mobile units that they will move around. There will be lots of back roads that likely aren't covered, but they won't let you know that. quote - "Cameras will be placed at every entry and exit point and at appropriate locations within the zone. Transport for London does not publish the locations of its cameras, as this would undermine their deterrent effect. Some of the cameras will be moveable and will be placed at different locations within the zone, ensuring effective operation of the scheme." I've got no doubt they'll do a thorough job with it.

I have replied to Phil's PM, hopefully between us it will be sorted.

This is going to affect me when it expands. I don't want to get rid, so I wonder if there may be a slim chance of a solution. Stilo Abarth's are ULEZ compliant. G/km emissions are around the same as our coupes as I understand it. There is a place in Bow that can test the full compliance of a vehicle and upload the results to the ULEZ database to prove compliance. They are doing it for motorbikes (maybe they can only check them) as most are OK, but not according to the ULEZ checker. A lot of bikes were getting scrapped, unfairly. Is it worth us testing a car to see what the NOx really is, as that's all they are bothered about? Can Joe shed any light on this and the differences with the 2.4 engine? Here's the link - https://www.bikerandbike.co.uk/how-to-get-a-motorcycle-emissions-test-and-beat-the-ulez-charge/

No bike MOT pollution check so they are simply richening up the mixture, reducing the NOx, testing and registering the figure on the gov website. Never mind the other pollution figures...
A simple dodge with carbs or Alpha-N/MAP FI systems. If they implement an MOT for bikes that covers emissions they would come unstuck.
The only way round this for cars that require a pollution check at MOT is a FI system using an O2 sensor rather than a Lambda sensor

Sorry for being thick, but for us foreign types - whats ULEZ? Ultra Low Emission Zone, being rolled out in this case in London but spreading elsewhere.

Is there hope ? From this website https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/service/clean-vehicle-retrofit-accreditation-scheme/Can I replace the engine in my car to become CAZ, LEZ or ULEZ compliant (engine re-power)? This is possible, however there are no CVRAS approved re-powers for cars. This kind of conversion would be a DVLA notifiable modification in terms of engine number and engine capacity, but it would not lead to a change in emission values as stated on the vehicle’s V5C document (logbook) unless an expensive full rolling road emissions test is conducted to obtain the new emission values. This test would need to be conducted at a Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) approved test facility and cannot be conducted at an MOT test centre.

Ah, thanks, should have realised, but not something we are likely to see here in rural France. Not many vehicles and from what there are, an awful lot of them would never comply. French country folk hang on to their cars until they just stop working!
