Yes I would be interested in something new other than Apple. Tablet mainly for me as I don't use touch screen phones.

I rate my MIcrosoft Surface Pro 4 it’s a fantastic bit of kit whether running presentations as part of my training business, using as a laptop, or as a tablet just surfing the web while lazing in the hammock in my garden.
Doris the 1998 Portofino Blue 20V and Zoe the 1999 Alfa Romeo 916 Spider Bog standard needn't be boring...

MicroWishy has a midrange Samsung tablet that she's pretty happy with. You could always go higher up the Samsung foodchain if you're used to fondleslab performance.
Phonewise, my midrange Google Pixel does pretty much what I need it to do. Years ago I used to always have high-end devices but I've long not felt the benefit and wouldn't want to spend the cost of a top end Samsung/Apple device now on something that I may drop out of my pocket.
Up yours Photobucket.

I've got both - second hand iPhone - now used as standalone ipod, but my main phone is a Huawei P-smart. It's an entry level phone, but it has an awesome camera, it's fast and so far has been completely reliable. No hesitation in recommending. As a tablet alternative, I've recently been considering a Chromebook, as I like having a separate keyboard as is faster. They are also cheap, and fine for general use - they are not meant to be a full business/gaming laptop, but as a tablet replacement I think they could fit the bill. The newer ones will also run Android apps. Note: I haven't used one yet, but I've heard good things. I've never been that keen on the over priced exclusive cult of Apple, so I don't think I'd ever buy a new product. Maybe I'm just a skinflint.

I’ve been on the Apple forum (where apple effectively purge dissent) and even the geeky guy who is clearly an Apple fan was down on the software releases.
When Eve was properly ill, my iPhone started killing its battery in about 3 hours. I contact Apple, explained my situation, and asked if they could exchange it. They swore blind that it was very unusual and, after lots of escalation and argument , they eventually deigned to swap it. About a week later, the news broke that there was a massive problem with the batteries and Apple were changing it them FOC. They will have known this when talking to me but preferred to lie.
I’m frustrated the fact that I have Apple devices that are “mechanically” perfect (a MacBook Air and an iMac 27”) but almost useless as computers. That strikes me as deeply wasteful. I can sell my Apple Pencil but, again, it’s useless to me. And, at least they are now moving to USB C chargers on computers and iPads so that’s not quite so wasteful.

Still running my MacBook air 2015 with a 27 inch display. Works almost perfectly. The MacBook Air doesn't like the power supply from the monitor so still have to run it off the dedicated power supply. And you can't turn on the laptop from the monitor unless it is in sleep mode. Apart from that. Perfect I still have my iPhone 8 and first gen Apple Watch both working spot on. Though I wouldn't mind a better camera from the newer generation stuff. Can't see the point of a new watch as it works well enough. Have to charge both everyday but then that is the way of the world. I upgrade every couple of years to about two versions behind the newest. Apple always are and always will try to be as closed as possible. That is the Apple way.
