Hello, so I'm gathering information to start playing around with standalone ecu, at the moment I have few questions (I'm sure that I will have more ) so lets begin: hope someone know the answer 1 - Intake air temp sensor resistance at cold / warm / hot (can't find datasheet for original sensor) 2 - Knock sensor frequencies ? 3 - inlet camshaft solenoid activation - Throttle position % / Rpm And this is along shot but : 4 - Original AFR and VE tables would be good (have original , gtec , gtec2 files but sadly i cant figure out what map is where) Regards, Laurysr

Hi.
1 - Easy method: dip the tip of the temp sensor in ice water and measure the resistance - this is about 0 deg. Same for boiling water - 100 deg. Room temp in your house should be around 21 deg. You should be able to draw a straight line through these three points.
2 - Can't remember!
3 - Variator is activated up to 4800 rpm and deactivated beyond this point
4 - The entire AFR table is filled with 128dec (stoich).
Motronic fuel and ign maps are complicated: Both, fuel and ign span across 5 maps each: idle, part-throttle < 3000 rpm, part-throttle >3000 rpm, and WOT.
The way that the ECU translates MAF voltage into injector duty cycle is complicated, so the fuel maps probably won't be much use to you, but here are the locations anyway.
In the same order as above:
FUEL: BB07 (8X2), BCC5 (12X12), BC19 (12X12), BBB5 (12X6), BB57 (12X6)

Thanks for that , i wont be running maf anymore , will be using map for air calculation. So if variator is activated on low - mid rpm i got lost now as i thot its other way round(high rpm) Ignition timing table anyone ?

Look at Syvecs its cheaper than the motec and very close on spec compared to some of the others which charge alot for very old tech.
im in the process of having my spare Loom stripped, refurbed and re connectored ready for a Syvecs setup

1 - This sensor is NTC type and is not linear so this method is only advised if you take a reading every 10C. Most Bosch sensors have the same resistance vs temperature so you will probably find the same thermistor bead is used in many Bosch sensors where datasheets are available. Remember this is measuring air charge so needs to be accurate really between 10C and 60C. 2 - This is not really a relevant question as it much depends on how your ECU's knock system works however I would start at a base frequency of ~7kHz purely based on an 82mm bore size but you will need to datalog the raw signal process and decided on background noise rejection and detection thresholds etc... Good video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIfs4RKs0g83 - Easy test on the dyno; Do sweeps fully ON and fully OFF at say every 10% TPS, where the torque cross is your rpm switching point as a function of TPS/MAP. Make sure you have some hysteresis. 4 - Aim for Lambda 1 at idle area, probably 0.85-0.9 at WOT blended to a lean cruise elsewhere. This really does depends on how the engine reacts to your lambda values according to TPS/MAP and IGN. This really is what your engine calibrator should concentrate on when mapping on the dyno as different engine specs will react differently to combustions ratios. What ECU are you playing with?

most easyest ecu to play with is fueltec easy to wire and very easy to get running, the fueltec was designed around the fiat sensors so all you have to do is selet the correct sensor, even has a learn mode, boost by gear etc
also forgot to mention the most powerfull 20vt runs on this ecu

Fueltec should have the base map on the data base anyway so after that it will be just tuning from there

Thanks for info TurboJ , Im allready setting up EMU , Done wiring, measures and settings, so playing around tomorrow to see if it starts to begin with later on will do idle control and other bits, will report with updates . I have found out that 20vt max VE is 85% (not boosted) As im planning to run Alpha-n with map strategy.

I agree and would use Alpha-N with simple manifold pressure compensation for the fuel map only, very easy but use speed pressure for Ignition and Lambda Maps. I threw together a quick ignition base map you can use just to get you up a running (use at your own risk it was from a 2.0L Cosworth RS200 I mapped about two years ago) https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/2msii9

Thanks for that I can use Alpha-N X MAP fuelling and Map controlled ignition. but will see later as need to get Coupe running on Ecu first of all
