After my Leon Cupra R decided it was going to starve its engine of oil a month ago, resulting in a dead LCR, We as a family needed a 5 door Car ASAP, locally a Saab 9-3 Aero popped up online, I nearly bought one previously but it had 230k and that even for me was ott, I viewed this one snd what are nice car it is, charcoal grey, 2004, 90k with absolutely nothing left from its 11 years maintenance, ££££ of receipts,

The pros.

Spacious
Pretty quick (remap is a mere £100 for 260bhp!)
Comfy
Spec'd to the maximum!
Good looking (IMO of course)
Bargain cars with supposed bullet proof reliability

Cons,

Awful stereo
A Saab 'night panel' that oddly shuts the entire dash down at the press of a button, Shen on earth do you not want even the speedo working???

That's it,

I'll get some pictures, definitely worth a look if you want a barge that's less than common,

Chrissy

Sorry to hear of the demise of the LCR Chrissy.

Always had a soft spot for Saabs. They are solid with a good bit of style.

Are you sure the night panel is working properly? Different car as mine was a 9-5 but the night panel on mine kept the speedo lit but only up to 70/80 (I can't remember exactly but it just shut down the lights for high speed not all of it). Petrol gauge light still worked when it was low.

I used to use it every now and again if I was driving in the middle of the night. It felt nice and comforting when I was driving at a time when I should have been in bed. crazy That might just be me though.

Up yours Photobucket.

I had a 2005 9-3 from new a few yrs back and the night panel shut everything down apart from the speedo up to 70 mph

if the fuel got low the would then light up or if you got close to the speed limit the rest of the speedo would then light up

I really liked mine but did have a whole host of issues with it but if the one you are looking at has done 90 k I would guess they have all been ironed out

mine was a diesel and when it when in for a service the always gave me an abbot tune courtesy car .......that used to fly

Had a 900T, 900 Carlsson, 9000 Carlsson, 93TS convertible, all totally reliable.

Recently started looking for 900T convertible, miss not having a Saab.

Saab is one company I really do wish were still going...

I grew up with two 99's (without a flake) in the late 1970's and they were ice cream coloured too !

Always wanted a 900 turbo

My dad had a couple of 9000s - pretty unreliable - in fact they swapped out the 2nd one early as a company car because it was spending too much time being fixed.
They have an X reg 93 convertible which they've had since it was nearly new and they love it.
