6 years of aching arms and pin and needles have finally got the better of me. Stupidly I never went to the doctors and just soldiered on. But now I've had enough. After doing 2 long days working on my car my recent holiday was nearly ruined by the pain in my arms and I finally went to the doctor and confirmed my suspicions.

I've got all the classic signs which are getting steadily worse. The tip of my right for finger is now permanently tingling.

2 courses of injections booked for both sides and if it doesn't work then she'll put me down for the operations.

Why on earth didn't I go to the doctors earlier cry

Anyone else suffered in silence?

I had it years ago. It was in my left wrist and got so bad I couldn't change gear to drive a manual car some days.

Injections then physio sorted it out and it hasn't been a problem since.

I have been told more recently that the operations for that and tennis elbow are not really all that effective.

Sorry to hear this mate. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

Thanks chaps. Last night I decided to note down each time I woke up to see just how much its affecting my sleep.

I woke up 7 times..... shocked
Also note we have a 5 month old baby sleeping in the room, who only seems to sleep for 3-4 hours in a row at the moment. zzz

Welcome to the club!

Both of my hands were affected, and it took a few years between diagnosis and final operation.

As a point of interest and information, all my fingers on both hands, and both of my elbows, were at some time or another, affected.

The carpal nerve in the wrist affects the thumb, fore finger, middle finger and the inner side of the ring finger.
The ulnar nerve in the elbow affects the outer side of the ring finger and the little finger.

The carpal nerve op has worked on both of my hands, but the ulnar nerve decompression op to my elbows hasn't, so occasional tingling to the outer side of my hands, and a feeling of life coming back to the elbow after hitting the 'funny' bone keeps things interesting.

Apparently this is due to the nerve being damaged after being compressed for so long, something the op doesn't cure.
The sooner you get it sorted, the greater the chance of 100% success. Good Luck!

Went in for my lovely steriod injections on friday (only left wrist this time), and so far its not great. It hurts more than before - which can be quite normal - but the pins and needles are also coming quicker.

Not looking good. Got the other wrist booked in for a few weeks but I'm debating whether to go ahead with it. Might just opt for the operation

Really disappointing for you, Nobby, sorry to hear it. I hope things turn around in the next day or so...

One hand booked for an injection - its not as bad as the other.

Left hand had no improvement so I've been referred for the operation. Lets hope it fixes it! (and the referral doesn't take too long).
