Great post, Submariner. Thanks for the info. The You tube video I've watched several times - what superb sounds. The 156's that were in my price range all sold quickly. All that's left are auto's - I'm not THAT old yet. Besides, too many DSG equipped VW's/Audis go past my place and they sound awful (auto changes, that is). Mind you, their petrol and diesel engines sound so plain too. I haven't spoken to the bloke up the road about his 156 V6 - he's never there. So, I'm tinkering with the Coupe to bring out it's natural sound. I may well be keeping it

I just managed to get hold of a GTV V6 last weekend. It does need a bit of work, so per Submariner, expect cries of woe about it being a money pit (timing belt kit, water pump, and thermostat just cost 250 quid), but a great stablemate to the Coop!!

Fantastic, Wombat! You are living the dream. Where did you find and buy the car?
It's a lovely driving position, isn't it. The screen is like looking through the windows of Discovery 1, Hal 9000's space ship, wide but narrow.
But please, tell me what she sounds like......

The GTV was via a fellow 155 owner. I had a 155 he wanted, and he had a few GTVs and was happy to do a swap with cash!! I now have it home, and have been pottering around it. Bought with a possible water pump history, a need for a new cambelt, and a fuel injection warning light on, there is a little to do. Injection warning light sorted first (it was running quite rough), Multiscan was showing 5 ECU errors including the MAF. All cleared except the MAF. Belt and water pump will be done this week, then I'll be able to tell you what it sounds like!!! Interestingly, another GTV V6 with seemingly the same waterpump issue fell into my evil clutches last weekend. It never rains but it pours. Not got this one home yet, but it does look good.

So now you've got three GTV v6's? Red metallic, blue one, and a Cup??!! Congratulations. That's just rubbing it in And just when I was getting on with the idea of keeping the Coupe. There's a silver one on e bay that my mate wants me to get. CAT C, it may need a £1000 spending on to get it roadworthy? Does that sound reasonable? It's £1000...

Just the 2 GTVs. Never had a Cup. The full car list is a bit mad: - Alfa 155 Q4 (Simoni's BTCC parade lap car) - Alfa 75 V6 Cloverleaf - 2 GTVs - 2 33 16v SWs - 1 series 2 33 8v Cloverleaf SW - 155 V6 - Coupe 20VT - 2 Landrover Freelanders - A spares 155 and spares Coupe (soon to be carted off to the scrappers as shells, terminal rust on both and the Coupe a Cat C) Coupe and 155 V6 are the daily drivers, and Mrs Wombat drives the diesel Freelander. The other Freelander is my winter hack. Just done the red GTV belt and waterpump today. All went well, and just need to put the top end back on tomorrow. Found a few more things to do - drop links and driveshaft gaiters, and a downpipe leaking. It is still not clear why it overheated, as the old waterpump was OK although the bearing was a bit stiff. I'll see what it does when it runs again. Could be a head gasket, but that is not the end of the world. I've seen the silver one on eBay. Best to check it out, but if it is 1000 and needs a 1000 spending, that doesn't seem too bad really. Of course, there are always the bits you find along the way that cost!!

Here is the Q4. And the 75. The photos are a year or so old as the cars are tucked up in the garage at the minute, but both fully operational.
