Hi,

My name is Yann and I recently bought a 16V Turbo Coupe, in Black Ink, from 1996 and with 160 000 km. Certainly not the best one, but it was overall looking fine, and working fine.

I tried two other ones before buying it. I was going to buy the first one but a problem appeared before taking the road, so it was a no-go, and I don't regret it, it was modified (and not always well made) and less pleasant to drive than the second one I tried few days after. It was running great but the exterior was awful and the interior not great, some broken things, and electrical problems... And no receipt history.
So I ended up trying this Black Ink model, but it was costing more and had higher mileage frown But it was stock, in good state, and had receipts from the past 13 years so...

Here it is :

http://reho.st/medium/self/19e5e78e353839f0699f948f4b96629dbd0e9d49.jpg
Everything is stock (normally), except the calander (this is the original one, but cut and with a grille attached to it...).

The main thing to do was belts, it hadn't been done for 9 years...
The tyres are old (rear tyres have 60 000 km and 9 years :o) but they look OK, I will replace them next year.
The centre console needed a refurb, and the interior a good cleaning. The headlights need a polish :

I bought Meguiar's Plast-X, I hope it will be sufficient, but may need to sand them if the lacquer stays like that... In this case it will wait.

They also need to be adjusted, the interior adjuster doesn't work BTW, I have to clean the motors to see if it the solution... The dashboard adjuster was broken, I tried to glue it, but it wasn't solid enough, so I MacGyvered it with a drill and two nails, it looks shitty but it works. And after all it is covered, who cares... The fact it is working is the essential, even if I don't use it.

While dismounting some of the interior parts I noticed some of the elements were (partially) broken, and I also broke some parts (the rear ashtray while trying to dismount the centre console as I misunderstood the how to, and the plastic part around the vents, I broke it accidentally, tried to glue it but ended up smashing it on the ground )
But I found replacements parts on the internet, the centre console is now clear and covered with plastidip, and it looks ok, not perfect but ok. I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive (with an original calander), and will be able to finish the refurb and remount them.

After buying the I noticed that the pininfarina logo was missing on the right side of the car, and ordered one on the internet also, but from a 406 Coupe ; I hope it will fit and look like the original one... I knew there were some scatches on the paint, noticed some more after inspection, and also 2-3 rock chips on the bonnet frown I think I will make them repaired before it becomes worse.

(here is an example, one with rust on the left, one on the right, the rest is dirt, maybe some little chips but that are not really serious for me).

Some little bumps on the trunk, and one little on the hood, I noticed them before buying, I think it will stay like that for the moment. Some parts have been resprayed, and I noticed yesterday it doesn't look great in some places, less brilliant... But it's mainly noticeable when close to it.
The wheels need to be resprayed, I think I can do it, but when, that's the question.

I have just replaced all the belts for an interesting price (300 €, I was expecting 500 +/-). But now the car is noisy at 2000 RPM, I returned to the garage and they told me it was the power steering pump, because of the new aux belt. Did someone already encounter a similar issue ? A noise around 2k RPM, but nothing at lower or higher rev...

I found a lot of useful information on this website, for the centre console refurb for exemple, and I would like to thank every person who contributed to this. I also saw some really nice Coupe here, I'm jealous ! And some of you are really invested, congrats.

Hello Yann, also for me noise after cambelt, but after some days it vanished. Wait two week before have paranoia.
Nevertheless, what a superpost!
Great introduction! I have to make a similar post about mine 20vt!

Good luck for restoration, it seems quite ok not a bad one.

And.. Another think.. Can I ask you how many euros did you paid your Coupé? I want to make a comparison within Italian prices.

Well, I'm not really confident with this noise. Today I took the Coupe to go to work, had the feeling to hear the noise, regardless of the revs, and it was still really audible at 1.7-2k RPM. And now I can clearly hear the steering pump when turning, and the engine reacts a bit if I go full lock... I'm afraid the aux belt is too tight frown

It wasn't a big deal, but it was in my price range, close to my home and in ok condition, so... I paid 4400 € for it (the MOT is done by the seller for the selling (it must be less than 6 months old), and add 200 € for the papers in France).
When I was searching, I checked Italian and German prices, they seemed way lower. I was looking for a 20V Turbo originally, and the prices were really interesting compared to France. And as most of the Coupe in France were in the east of the country (and I'm in the west), I was thinking about buying one in Germany or Italy... But I don't speak German or Italian, mails were not answered, it wouldn't be that easy, and if the car fails, it can become a nightmare.

I noticed my rear washer doesn't work. I can hear the pump so it's not the problem, I read that it could be the valve, I will check that.
But the wiper also doesn't move when using the washer function (but the wiping function alone works), is it normal ? Washing the windscreen make the wipers move.

welcome to the world of fiat coupe paranoia smile After 5 years of owning these, i'm looking forward to the day when I can drive one of mine and not worry about something or other laugh
