Just returned from 4 1/2 weeks in Italy. We flew into Milano and out of Roma arriving home to Brisbane on Wednesday morning (just in time for the G20 conference of world leaders). Even a public holiday today to help keep us all out of the CBD.
Enjoyed the trip with its history and cars. Stayed at Lingotto Hotel in Torino and walked the roof top test track. Whilst we were there, a large number of Fiat representatives from around Europe and South Africa were there doing technical training on the soon to be released 500X. Even met a guy from Milton Keynes!
The motor museum in Torino was excellent, especially to see the 1899 Fiat and the Turbina. Also watched the interview with Chis Bangle and his story on the Coupe.
Will now have to again watch the original "Italian Job" movie and see how many places I recognise in Torino.
The Panini Motor Museum near Modena was a surprise with its rare collection of Maseratis and about 90 motorcycles.
What can I say about the drive along the Amalfi coast, very interesting!!
Only saw about 6 Coupes during my stay including a Blitz Blue 16vt like mine. Saw more Barchettas than Coupes.
Thanks to all (especially Theresa) for my Birthday Wishes which I celebrated at Lake Maggiore last month; a great day.
Did some "rare car spotting" but too many to list here.
Now back to reality and thinking about planning my next trip.
Possum, did you stay on Lake Maggiore!?!?!?!?!? I live on Lake Maggiore, east coast!
Me and my army-Coupe'
Nice to read that you liked Italy. Note that in Italy is very expensive to maintain Coupe' (a 20VT cost 600euros every year by taxes), so most of Coupes are sleeping until they will become 20years old to pay less taxes. And in Italy.. fuel cost 1.7 euro for liter.. salary are low.. So no one use its Coupe' In an entire year I have made only 4000 miles (excluded trip to Spa)

Gimmo, we spent the nights of 17th and 18th October at the Europalace Hotel in Verbania.
On sunday morning 19th, the Marathon was staring in Verbania so we had to park the Scudo away from the waterfront (we used the hospital carpark) on Saturday night otherwise we would not have been able to leave due to road closures.
Visited a few of the islands and Stresa by ferry. You certainly live in a beautiful part of Italy.
