Gutted for you Jimbo. The colours looks nice!

As Jim says write a lovely letter. I've certainly heard stories of Audi dealers bending over backwards to help out/top spec loans cars etc and there's no reason why they shouldn't so the same for you.

Ok so the story so far.

I asked Audi for my money back while I consider what I'm going to do next.

I visited BMW and had a good look over a new M3, the car just doesn't float my boat, although they have improved the interior immensely the nose is so ugly now that I really couldn't bring myself to like it.

I went back to Audi to arrange my money return, the salesman said the car had been repaired and would I like to inspect it. I had planned for this happening and took a small fridge magnet with me to check for body filler. As it was the magnet wasn't needed, the repair was so poor where they had tried to blend in a factory paint job with a hand sprayed repair, there was a huge bloom at the top of the c-pillar!

Such a shame that they were in such a rush to push it back out that they didn't even do a good paint job, idiots, all they had to do was continue the paint over the top of the car with a perfect mask line where the roof meets the tops of the pillars, carry it all the way to the a-pillar and it would have looked acceptable.

So anyway, I talked to the salesman about ordering another car, it would get here in September if I go ahead frown but they are willing to give me a courtesy car until that time.

Ask for the damaged repaired RS5 you ordered to be your courtesy car (once repainted to a good standard) until your new order is built plus a hefty discount.

Have you looked into the New Cayman GTS??

A lovely looking car but not really the motorway cruiser I would need and actually slower than the RS5.

Slower over a quarter mile but I would imagine faster once you introduce some twisty bits. The RS5 is undoubtedly a better cruiser and daily driver.

Here she is fresh from the gtechniq paintwork protection guys. Only at 200kms so still running it in and not been above 3000rpm so at the moment it feels like a big lazy V8 but I'm sure that will change in a few weeks when it's run in.

I'll report back with some more pics soon.

Very nice colour and car Jimbo!

Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

Does it have those really cool rear indicators that flash from in to out? Just seen an S6 with them, what a simple idea.
Lovely looking car Jimbo!

It's a really lovely looking car - even in dull Dundee (an identical blue one has just driven past my window at work).

Didn't some Yank tank from the 1970s have indicators that did that?

First time I've seen this TimR, think they are called 'Floating' or that's what Audi have tagged them as.

If my memory is right the Yank car I'm thinking of just had several lenses that lit up in sequence.
I'm probably wrong about this but maybe the car John Candy drove in the film 'Uncle Buck' had them.

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure on the rear indicators, I'll have a check next time I'm down in the parking.
Still doing the running in process so not been above 5000rpm which is where it really starts to come alive.
Looking forward to the next few weeks.

Uncle Buck's car was a 1975 Mercury Marquis Brougham, which means it was built around a year after the FoMoCo decided sequential turn signals were a dangerous distraction and axed them from the range. Could have been modified with those from an earlier model though. The Ford T-bird, Mercury Marquis and Mercury Cougar all had them fitted from '69 - late '73.
I'm sure many other models had them too, that's just my limited field.

A few more pics; I added the R8 Oil and Coolant cap to the engine

And a picture from the garage where the gtechniq was applied.

And a video the detailer posted on Facebook

Gtechniq RS5

Almost run in now so the 8250rpm redline should be available soon, it does sound pretty good at those revs and you really do need to rev it to make it move but once it's on song in dynamic mode, it's pretty bloomin quick!

Lovely car Jimbo! I keep thinking of getting the R8 caps for mine too - but my oil one is pretty much hidden.

The car went back in to get the gtechniq finish rectified after someone decided to sit on the car and scratch into the protective finish.
The guys did a fantastic job and added another 3 coats of the EXO sealant.

Pictures taken at the Maydan Bridge (as featured in Mission Impossible 4) the bridge has blue lighting so makes the paintwork stand out.

The engine is now really starting to loosen up and is still returning about 23mpg with some spirited driving.

Wheels are titanium colour. The bridge had blue lights overhead and fluorescent lighting along the guard rail, maybe that combination makes the titanium have a gold look?

He front end needs lowering, I don't like that wheel to arch gap.

I bet it's a bugger to keep clean with all the sand in the air over there. What's the traction like on the roads with all the sand?

It can be a pain with the dust here, it only needs a rinse over with a hose to remove it, nothing sticks to the paintwork with this gtechniq product on there, even brake dust just rinses away.

The roads aren't a problem, in fact they are pretty much all very good condition around Dubai and the Abu Dhabi capital. Only on a really windy day would you see sand blowing on the roads out of the city.
I can get the Scirocco to light up the front tyres but that's the same as the coupe with lots of power tying to get through the front wheels.
I'll be dammed if I can ever get the Audi to break traction, that thing is glued to the road.

I had Audi install a set of Eibach springs to get rid of the SUV ride height, this is how it should have looked from the showroom.
The ride is actually an improvement over standard which I wasn't expecting.
Tomorrow I'm installing a set of spacers, 8mm on the rear and 12mm on the front to give the car a better stance.

Very nice Jimbo. Won't spacers cause the tyres to snag the arches?

Thanks Jim. No, it takes the tyre to just inside the arch lip.
I guess manufactures make cars that are capable of fitting snow chains and having the arches packed with snow, something I very much doubt I'm going to see here.

I bought them from a company over in the US, they did all the homework on what size to fit and I actually opted for the non aggressive option.

I'll pop some pics up tomorrow.

I also added a U.S. style front plate instead of the large Euro plate it came with originally:

Edit: and I won't take the pictures with my blackberry, I can draw more accurate images with a half set of Crayola's.

Eibach springs and ECS spacers installed, 8mm rear and 12.5mm front, the wheels sit nicely in the wheel arch now. Car still rides nicely, not noticed any adverse effects.

I'm much happier with the look now. No more tweeks just enjoy the car.

Except maybe a Capristo exhaust.

Ver nice, but isn't that Crayola Blue? Hey Jimbo if things go the way I expect them to, I may well be here in Abu Dhabi over the weekend, I don't suppose you're in town (AD) this weekend?
