I have a FMIC fitted to my coupe. Fitted by the previous owner. I have recently fitted a new front grill which has made the bumper look more saggy than it did. The other grill was broken and sort of just sat on top of the bumper.

What would you suggest. It sags from side light to side light

Its an old photo as the bumper has been fully resprayed so the black paint under the grill and lights is now colour coded which makes it more obvious

Stands a chance the foam bumper protection has been removed to fit the FMIC, if so this will make the bumper sag as shown in the picture.

there must be a place you could fix a DIY support bracket to take up the slack... a hack saw and drill + some stainless bolts to fix it in... i use galvanised metal then cover it in wax oil + paint it when i do any creation like that..

I slide a thin metal bar under the bumper plastic after I cut away the foam to fit a fmic .
Not perfect but 90% better

Thanks for your responses. The bumper has had the internal crash protection foam removed. I was thinking of using a aluminium sheet approx the length from sidelight to sidelight 20mm in width but what thickness would you go for so it's strong enough to straighten the bumper and how would I attach it to underneath.

i would put two 90 degree bends at the ends, bolt the ends on so bumper rests on it to support it. use thin foam tape to absurd the rubbing between two surfaces. heat the bumper gently in the middle behind grill area to make it more playable to shape it when fitting.

Hi Chris I'm a bit confused not sure what you mean I was thinking of just attaching a straight piece of metal underneath the top part of the bumper under the grill and using glue or screwing it on. What are you suggesting attaching the metal to and what do the 90degree bends do?

a peace of metal sheet with a upside down U shape... to allow you to bolt it on at the sides / ends ... may be a case of you could bolt it onto the black metal part at the ends (slam panel) ... this would be what i would consider doing.

also it would be better if the middle sheet part had a bend in it to give better rigidity than just a flat plate - preferable about 90 degree bend or so would be best for this.

I bought a bar of U section from B&Q, remove the front bumper and attach the bar under the black area of the front grille area of the bumper, any fixings will be hidden when the grille is installed.
It's simple and it works.

I will take bumper off and then visit BandQ and see what I can do I'll either make a ledge for bumper to sit or the U bar and screw it underneath. It will depend on how much room I have. I have intercooler pipe work hidden behind the bumper as well. What thickness was the U bar

It was around a 1cm square section, no problem for access or space. I also had a FMIC fitted.
