Just purchased my third Fiat Coupe a 20VT6. The last one I owned I sold back in 2002.
I found this one on PistonHeads. This one was in Silver, I was after yellow but my misses said she wouldn't get in it if I did!
The owner stated that in the last few years the cambelt, intercooler, clutch, clutch cylinder, suspension along with various other parts had been replaced. The mileage was high but after reading various posts on here condition is the higher priority.

After contacting the owner he stated that the previous owner was Leighton Green who was a member of the Coupe Forum and had carried out all the recent work.
Coupe 20VT6 (link to the restoration)

After convincing myself that this was the one I wanted I was then in a race to sell my VW Golf before he sold the car.

Luckily the Golf sold first so a train ride to Milton Keynes from Eastbourne was in order and the car was mine!

Im intending to keep the car for a long time. And once the garage is clear of rubbish kept inside.

Although a lot of work has been done and the car drives very nicely there is a growing list of jobs which need doing.

1. car has two blue keys and the red but no silver so find replacement if still possible?

2. Drivers side rear leather grab handle broken and coat hook missing

3. Drivers sun visor damaged

4. Interior is generally very dirty, in need of a full interior valet.

5. Paint work dull and needing a machine polish

6. Headlight restoration

7. Candles at the front replaced with HID's

8. Only one alarm fob which isn't working (owner stated batteries are dead but did work)and rubber button missing. I have the red card so I will order a new fob once I get new batteries and see what happens.....

9. Fuel cap restoration

10. Slight rust on the passenger front wheel arch, a few bubbles appearing but doesn't look to bad. Most expensive job and will therefore have to wait until the summer unless it gets worse.

11. Lacquer peel on the top of the front bumper

12. Aeroblade wippers

13. Chrome rings for the dials and heater controls

14. Investigate Aircon (hopefully just regas!) Not urgent and not to concerned at the moment

I have no idea about engines etc hence why I got this car but the majority of the rest I can do myself. By trade I'm a 'Car Detailer' so the first job is the obvious!

I'm intending to strip the interior of the seats and then shampoo the carpets and work my way up to the roof lining. The only problem is the lack of light at this time of the year.

Pictures will follow shortly! smile

Thanks for reading

Congrats Richie, welcome back to the fold smile
All these motors are dependent on tlc due to their age but as you'll no doubt know the dreaded metal-eater is your greatest enemy so try and get her inspected in the danger areas underneath.

Otherwise happy couping!

Hi

Ive taken the carpets out of the boot and there is nothing showing in there I'll speak to my local garage and see if I can put her up on the ramps and have a look. Ive rolled around myself underneath but couldnt see anything obvious.

My misses thinks I'm having a mid life crises, but getting back into this compare to the modern day family car you just feel so much more connected to the road!

Couldn't agree more, a week in a Yaris although commendably finished by Toyota was not a pleasurable experience, awkward pedal positions and so light it skidded on our cobbled roads on every start a few degrees above level frown

Very nice looking Coupe - one of my favourites as it does without the spoilers! Sounds like a good project which ahs already had lots done. Hopefully nothing too serious which needs doing soon. Have fun!

Same here - she's convinced I'm having a crisis too as I've just sold my extremely comfortable and reliable Volvo estate to use the Coupe instead (much to her horror) as every journey feels like an 'occasion'. Hopefully these journeys will be 'occasions' for the right reasons though...

Enjoy your Coupe!

Cheers everyone, I sold my Golf Estate for this car. Although I have a van for work and the Golf was hardly used.

I've also noticed that the heating is either hot or cold, nothing in between. As soon as you move the dial from cold I end up with full temp. Any ideas what this is, or a link on the forum to solve it.

Cheers

Purchased new batteries for the remote fob for the alarm. But no luck. Seems like I need to get the control unit reprogrammed with two new fobs. A job for another day I think!!

Replacement trim has turned up today so will get those installed over the weekend and finish fitting the seats back into the car. Thinking about restoring the centre console. After I have cleaned it, it appears to have deteriorated the plastic further.

Dont like this time of the rear just not enough time
