Why are the drill holes so high? Would be my first question. But non the less damage is done and its thier fault. Stand your ground John and get an independant expert in to aid you in your claim.
Idiots ,but your not the first victim or the last.
Can i be the first in the que for Mrs Bockers Dad pampering please?

Cheers Joe, I'll let him know (bloody auto correct!) Just read up about party wall agreements, which he did not do. I am getting a builder in to do an estimate. They fitted nations and a damp proof membrane screwed into the wall...or should that be through the wall. The thing is it should not be done like that anyway in a property this age, doing what he has done means it has compromised our side of the wall.

Is it a 9 inch wall?
They must have put some thought into the wall thickness?
Mmm maybe not!

If its only 4 or 5 inches thick John. It may be an idea to put an insulated metal stud wall in front of the existing wall. With a metal stud wall you would only lose about 3 inches of the depth of the room. Use a solid insulation like Kingspan or an acoustic type. Its possibly cheaper that way also.

The thing is did you suffer from any damp on that wall, well if you didn't surely he didn't. If there was any damp on that wall, even just a bit you will be getting all of it through you side now, specially if they have done a proper job! So you need to take that into consideration too for the future and any claims made! Perhaps he got so fed up of all the noise you were making when doing your bathroom that he's just bolted a big slab of sound insulation up!

Thanks Joe, however its a small room and 3 inches is a lot to lose.

What gets me is that he kept on drilling through the wall even after he must have felt no resistance when the first one broke through.
Is it just your front room, or did he get your dining room too?

Looks like a day to strip the paper and make good the holes and to pre glue the whole of that wall. Then another day,s cost to skim.(although its only a morning skim really). Then a day or two for decoration. Less than a £1,000 imagine John. A bit more if there is more than in your photo's mate.
