Good luck with the sale Dave. This has to be the ultimate track day weapon and the peak of what can be achieved with the coupe. A very special car.

Call me stupid, but what makes this car worth 12 - 13 grand when a modified coupe with forged internals will only make £3000 tops?
Thanks

Well, I suppose the first thought is where have you seen a modified coupe with forged internals selling for £3000.00?

X Good question. But as I always tell folk before they embark on a build with a budget, the engine is the cheapest part. The expensive part is the stuff bolted to it and around it to keep it alive. I don't think there's a forged build on here that's cost less than 10k and if its done to a high quality then most owners will be 20k out of pocket. That said its still very cheap as a lot of stock parts can still be retained whereas other makes are extremely expensive to tune beyond 300bhp due to the domino effect weaknesses.

Reasons why I say this is because I have ploughed 15k into a seicento (anyone who knows me, will know which one) and at the end I know it will still only be worth £1200 at the absolute max even with all the FIA docs and spare engine.
So surely there has to be a point where selling a car at almost 6x it's actual value is kind of pointless?
I'm not trying to sound cocky or anything, after all this is a discussion thread specifically put up for this car.
Thanks

But surely if you think it's only worth that then that is all it's worth? A car will sell for what someone is willing to pay. Have you tried selling it?
I'm still interested where you saw the forged coupe for £3000.00 though. If this were the case I would bought one already! last I saw was the engine only for this price…
I think as Adam says above, look at the specification, total the output. Dave obviously is not thinking as you do..

I personally would love this car! Being only 20 miles i was eager to see the price tag. Its clear where the money has been spent on this car and is a fantastic spec. Not just the engine but the full car.
All the same i could never justify paying that amount for it and dont think DLT will see that kind of money either. I hope he does as its alot of money to loose when he has hardly used it.
Good luck.

Yes I agree the spec etc is quite nice, but I just can't see how that price is still seen as cheap and reasonable with geunine interest to back it up too.
Wouldn't dream of selling that sei. I just know that it's not worth the effort of even trying to sell.
Thanks

3k for a good forged coop!? Have a day off! There are some mildly tuned mint ones going for more than that, let alone mint and forged and DLT'S spec list is huge in every department, looks a very well sorted coop, nice that its a 2.4 aswell, all the best with the sale.
Now in the 400+ bhp club!

i personally feel 12-13k is a fantastic price for the specs. definetly more has been spent so theres already a loss, i mean where else can you get such a good looking car and with 500+ bhp under the bonnet, specially badged as a 'fiat'. good luck with the sale.

GreyFurby sold his forged coupe for 2k recently I believe. Yep...2k for a forged coupe. Even if it needed tlc and improvements it wouldnt amount to 11grand. Technics gorgeous forged plus was up for a shade over sevenk. Peros well known super beast was up for 9k which didn sell as far as im aware. Does anyone seriously and honestly think someone would pay thirteen grand for aforged coupe these days?

I'm curious, reading through the original owners thread and spec lists there is a couple of every expensive but important things missing.
DLT has specified that the car is running the stock bosch ECU, when originally the car was quoted and running a Motec600 ECU.
There are too many BHP figures floating around that make this even more confusing. I know it has several boost settings and fuel setups, but. The original owner only had it running at the max of 500BHP on race fuel.
I'm confused, and I apologize if I have pointed something obvious that has already been pointed out.
Thanks

For a community of Coupe enthusiasts we certainly are keen to question pricing and suggest lower values... X......?

My car was initially up for £10k with no real interest. I sold it later on for £8k. In the for sale add it says DLT will make a loss of £5k if he sells for £13k. I made a far bigger loss than that and didn't even make back half of what I spent. And all the work had also been done recently. I know when you've just put a lot of money into something like this, you'd like to recoup as much as you can, but you won't see any interest at that price. I know, I've tried. If you're really serious about selling, you'll need to rethink the asking price.

I realise that i am at a different time of life than alot of you. But you have given your heart and wallet to achieve these high hp coupes. Why sell?

The reason I decided to sell up is because I really didn't use it as much as I thought I would. I couldn't live with it as an everyday car as I spend hours in London traffic everyday. The clutch, stiff ride and loud exhaust are great on the open road, but when you're stuck in traffic for two hours, it's like wresting a bull home. Then I always thought it was only a matter of time before I lose my licence. The moment you hit a bit of open road and get it on boost, you're doing speeds in seconds that would frighten most people. And then there's the cost of running it. You get tired of constantly pouring money into it. You can't run a car like this on a budget after all. I will never regret owning the Coupe and spending all that money on it(and losing even more). It was a lot of fun and you learn so much in a very short time. Speaking about clutches, I can imagine what DLT's twin plate must be like to drive. You wouldn't want to be stuck in any sort of traffic with that!!
