We returned on Sunday from a fortnight roadtrip of Italy, unfortunately wasnt done in the coupe (is finished but still sorn) but for practical reasons in the family car. We entered Italy via Mont Blanc, luckily was quiet on our side but what a jam going into France! Stayed 1 night in Turin, (Home of Fiat) then down to Pisa (for the tower, its quite a shock when you do see it that it hasnt at least had some damage in past as doesnt look like it should be able to be at that angle and not break up!) After visiting Pisa we spent the night at Cascina and used it as a base to go to Florence the next day, very beautifull city with 414 steps to the tower! Next 4 nights spent at a campsite near Rome in what was descibed as a log cabin but was really a static caravan lol, was ok though and had shuttle bus to local station for train into Rome, on 3rd day though as Rome was quiet (locals on hols) we drove into city and didnt have to put up with the none air-con dirty train. Rome was very nice, lovely piazas (squares) with fountains and statues everywhere. From Rome we called off at Tivoli for the gardens at Villa E'Ste (Hadriens villa, very ornate and grand gardens with large elaborate water features, must have been very impresive in the day, still is although a bit run down and dirty in places) Remaining time spent in a very grand hotel in Gragnano, hotel was spot on but Gragnano was quite rough (found most of southern italy quite gritty in appearance with graffity everywhere and buildings looked uncared for. paint/plaster crumbling etc. But was centrally located to visit Pompei, vesuvious & herculaneum, which were fascinating to see, some of the original paintings and mosaics still clearly visable. Also spend days at Sorento and Amalfi before coming all the way back to North East England via Modena to visit the farrari Factory and museum So how many Coupes do you think we saw? My Daughter said she saw one outside the hotel in Gragnano but i didnt see it, did see some though, in fact if it wasnt for going to the farrari Factory on way home would have seen more coupes than Ferrari's! Didnt spot any in UK on way down or back though.

Sad, but I think you have seen 5 or 6 Coupe' in Italy. In my cuontry no one wants to buy a Coupe' and who has got one, try to sell it. It is a car that is expensive: - 1 litre of gasoline is about 2euros - insurance varying from 500euros (mine, for example) and 1200euros(my friend with a Coupe) for year - if you have a Coupe' Turbo you must pay every year 500euro to italian state for taxes, varying with power, and Coupes are powerful - nevertheless, if you want to buy a Coupe', you must pay 1000euro to italian state for register the new owner. Consider that in Italy the net salary for month, for a person, is about 1200euros, and Coupe is almost the second/funny car. We are in crysis, no job, no money, no Coupes

I was going to say none as well, if it weren't for Leckypete's comment that he "did see some though".
So I say 3 (since 1 and 2 are already gone, and 4 seems too high!)

Unless there are very few Ferrari at the factory/museum, you saw quite a few coupes. I have been to Italy twice and I loved it. 27 including the one your daughter spotted?

We also went to Italy by car and did not see any Coupé or Barchetta. So my answer is: none.

Seven? Because that's about how many Coupes I saw in Italy in July. I was there for 4 weeks and actually was able to take photos of 4 of them. Here they are.... This one was in Garlenda. Note the Fiat Barchetta wheels. Came across this green one in Orvieto, in a square just behind the Duomo. We were on one of those hop-on hop-off double decker buses in Rome and stopped right next to this 16v turbo broomie. This sad speed red car went past us on the autostrada just south of Bolzano and when we got to the toll gates I was able to get a shot. (We were on our way to the Stelvio Pass - what a drive!!!) None of the cars I saw were in what I'd call pristine condition. Well used I'd say.

If you want to see some Coupes you need to come near Varese ad Como, on the lakes. Near my home, in Luino, there are - one 20v NA, red - one 20v Turbo, moon grey - one 16v Turbo, black - one 16v NA, chamonix green - one 16v 1800, dark blue - one Limited Edition, black - one 20v Turbo with LE kit, red - and mine 20v Turbo military green

If there were any chance of finding out the number that would be great!

Well including the one my daughter said she spotted we seen 5, speed red with aftermarket wheels near Turin, winner red just down from saint Peters in Rome, Steel grey onroute to Gragnano (was behind us in traffic until turned off) the one my daughter saw was also a speed red & last one was in a tunnel so not 100% sure of colour, think it was portofino blue.
Have to add that I found the standard of driving really quite shocking in southern Italy, upto Rome was fine but lower down they just seamed to rely on others getting out of they way and would think nothing of cutting us up, scooters were worst, most cars had dents, scrapes and some looked to have been in quite bad shunts and simply left like that, think not much call for bodyshops in southern Italy!
Comments from Italians on this would be interesting, I remember seeing a Italian car in UK lost , everyone realised and was curtious to him, unfortunately the same curtious behaviour wasn't in evidence to foreigners as far as I could tell.
Enjoyed the trip but don't think would go lower than Rome again in the car. Thankfully we made it without a scratch, mainly to very defensive driving on my part!

Well, we did just under 200 miles through France and into Italy in July this year, stayed in Italy for a week, then came back through Switzerland, and we saw the grand total of............<drum roll>......one Coupe. And that one was Moon Grey and wearing UK plates, and we saw more of the interior than we did the exterior!
Correct - not one single other Coupe the whole journey.

My driving takes me all around South West, parts of London, Welsh borders and the like and sadly I only spot the very occasional coupe. Same though could be said about Corrado's, Prelude's, Cougars', Nissan 200z, 406's and other "coupes" of the mid 1990s?
Alfa GTV's seem to be more prevalent than the Coupe? Did Alfa sell many more or is their another reason?

In Italy people think that FIAT cars before of Marchionne's era are worst cars in the world. FIAT = shit. Italian people are fool. So there are so much Alfa GTVs because people think that every Coupe will fall on damage.. So between Fiat and Alfa people preferred Alfa I'm italian

That's an interesting insight. Well to be honest, before my Coupe I did not hold any Fiat from the 1990's or early noughts in any high esteem. It was only through driving the Coupe and thinking what performance/go in return for small £, was I persuaded and even then at the point where I could afford to have made a bad mistake and put it down to experience! Nonetheless, I know look at TT's, 3 series coupes etc as being soulless in comparison to the coupe...but then I'm very lucky as the coupe is just a weekend car. My youngest teenage son still wants me to get rid of it as he hates the view from the rear and he keeps nagging me to put it away in the garage!!!!

Interesting the view Fiat held in by Italians, assumed they would be more appreciated by the home market. Usually Europeans more patriotic to there cars? Did see a lot of Alfas, and mostly in better condition.
To be honest seeing 5 coupes was more than was expecting to see, as said cars tend to get to a certain age then disappear from the road, the survivors being more cherished and used more as weekend toys?

We went to Italy this year ( piza ) and we saw no coupes at all and very few Alfas. In years gone by we used to see nothing but Fiats and Alfas, its very strange italians seem to view Fiat/Alfa like we brits veiw BL cars. Some years ago i was working way down south at Nardo, saw loads of coupes, but all were NAs and most were bashed about. I love driving in Italy, but not in a loved coupe or Alfa, as the average Italin does not seam to care much about his/her car or what happens to yours!!!

I saw 3 Coupe's in 1 week in 2006. I seemed to be the only owner washing my Coupe . Tried to find the (I thought obvious) Fiat Museum in Turin aswell. There was no Fiat Museum. Per, There is indeed a "Fiat Museum" in Turin. It is called Centro Storico Fiat (Fiat Historical Center), located at Via Chiabrera 20. This is on the corner of Corso Dante Alighieri, only 3 blocks from the river Po. It has been there since 1963. Check this link... Centro Storico Fiat I have visited the museum twice - in 2010 and in July this year. Both times however, there was no Coupe on display, although I have seen a photo with one in there. A yellow one I think. The best car museum I have ever seen though is the Italian Motoring Museum in Turin - formerly called the Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia Museum. I can heartily recommend it to any car enthusiast, but again, there was no Fiat Coupe in there - unless you count the 1/24th scale models!
