Newbie here, names Jamie I live in Lichfield, Staffordshire and I am looking to buy my first coupe (20vt)!! I'm not new to fiats I had a punto gt for four years so I know what I'm getting into lol The first hurdle I'm struggling with us insurance, as I only have 2 months left til I turn 25 but my policy has another 3 months and flux want 375 quid up front plus any remaining instalments hopefully it's cheaper come renewal time!!! Ill be on her a lot once I buy the car and I will use the forum for buying advice and obviously parts etc!! I am a paid member on puntosports.co.uk and I'm aware some of you use/used the site so will know of my username as its the same!! There used to be a really nice coupe in Lichfield wonder if he uses the forum???

What sort of mileage is deemed acceptable with history on a 20vt I went to view one with 140k last night and it sounded sweet, no smoke, no knocks, cracked manifold (easily sorted) but the car has history just abit nervous to jump in head first to it as it might not last?? Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Right so I've bought a coupe 20vt in portofino blue!! Apart from an induction pipe and exhaust system it's standard issue!! It needs some work, wheel bearing, brakes warped, wishbone/track rod ends etc, a full respray eventually, all that I can do myself! Then there's the small matter of the clutch slipping might as well have new belts at the same time as that, ill get my clutch guy to build me a nice updated plate to handle enough torque for future upgrades! Manifold is cracked too but nothing unusual there really. Feels great to drive and is so much more grown up and refined than my punto gt, put an instant smile on my face. I'm very aware that the repairs will be costly but it shall be a weekend toy and occasional drive to work on nice Fridays, so it's not essential! Few questions for the moment 1. How would I identify the bottom pulley being replaced for auxiliary guard? 2. If I leave the pierburg valve electronically connected and just run actuator pressure for a while will that be ok?(was with the punto) 3. Best place for general parts to bought?
Ill post some pictures up once I get chance as I'm tired today after being out in her all day
