As you probably know, I have been here and done this before. This week I picked up my new car after not having one for the last 12 months?

I snapped last week after crawling in the house near death, blue and sopping wet after getting caught out in a torrential downpour.

So off the bike went for the year and my barge was purchased for an insainly cheep, criminal price.

3.2 v8 with SH, 6 months tax and test, no scratches, one 5p size dink. Just needs a valet inside. New tyres all around and ready for winter.

I've always had a real soft spot for jags, one of the best colours too.

Thanks Jim, I wanted a black one but they command a price primiom sadly, This was next on the wanted colour list. Look much nicer once I get the pendent alloys on it.
Thanks Steve smile

Suits the executive Sam!

I think it's a great colour and the seats are ultra-classy. Plenty of room for the cats but too much moulting fur area for cleaning comfort!

At least you look less likely to have to dig yourself out round there....

That is gorgeous, Sam. Roughly how much is an insanely cheap price for a lovely car like that? (Only asking for fun - I couldn't afford the petrol. Literally).

Jim, £800 notes, when I do the numbers, with the miles I do now fuel is not an issue. I go to the shop and back and occasionally scoot in to town 12 miles away.

Most of the time I walk, or take motorbike but its been raining....a lot and Emma fed up of me using her 500 for work

Loverly car there Sam :-)

I look at it this way, alot of people go and but the latest diesel that can do 60mpg, and they finance this over 4years and prob pay afew hundred a month...

I'd much rather buy something for £800, have no finance, and pay more for fuel....simples IMO laugh

Agreed and with low mileage per year diesels arent worth the premium for fuel and purchase cost.

That mpg is pretty good. I get about the same from my car.

The v8 is rather mute at the moment which is a bit of a let down, the last xj8 I had had the exhaust opened up a little by having back boxes removed. Still quiet but when you opened her up you could hear all 8.

I probably wont keep it all that long so im not going to chuck money at it. A lot of car for money but to be fair they are giving them away now, an xj6 in a not nice colour can be had for as little as £400, the xj8 starts at around £800 but can go to £3000+ depending on year and options. Both the X-type and S-Type command lowish prices for the spec you get.

Resale vales for these are worse than alfa's! I think its a very limited market for a miss conception relating to TCO, fuel is the biggest hurter with these but as far as parts go ebay is awash with cheep spares. Parts are no more expensive than coupe's and being based on ford? its all pretty low tech stuff. I could quite happily do a suspension refresh with out the need for a specialist. Lastly, when I have needed some one who knows what they are doing prices are in-line with what we pay our specialists on here.

You paid the same for your Jag, as i paid for my last Lexus. cool It's true, it really is a buyers market with V8 motors just now.
