Today marks an end of an era as my business partner and I have sold our Financial Planning business with settlemnet today.

After 30 years in Insurance and Financial Planning and before that 13 1/2 years in banking, I've decided to retire whilst I'm still young enough to enjoy life.

In January of this year I also had my Prostate removed as it had some "nasties" in it, so this is also another reason to retire. All good so far with another check with the specialist due in January 2013.

What will I do, I am often asked. Well, there is always some extended yachting trips with some mates, do a bit more with the Fiat Car Club of Queensland, do some more work with my local Rotary Club, or, perhaps even venture to Europe to see some more of my favourite Marque and even catch up with some of you lot!

Then again, I could get a Ducato Campervan and tour this great continent on which I live as there is so much of my own country that I have not seen .

Oh yes, I have just joined the local Men's Shed, which my Rotary Club assisted in establishing several years ago. I may learn some new woodworking skills etc.

Congratulations, and best wishes on your retirement.

No doubt your imminent World Tour will bring you to the UK sooner or later? Then you can take the record for the most remote Coupe meeting off me! (London to Rio).

Failing that, I'll likely be in Woomera some time next year - is that a *long* way from Brisbane or merely half a continent?

Great news - how refreshing to hear such a positive story. Enjoy every minute - it's what you worked for.

Congratulations Graeme, and good luck with your retirement! You'll have even more time now to tinker with your Fiats smile

Neil, It's only about 2000km from Brisbane so not that far. There's a good golf course out there apparently, so don't forget to take your clubs.

Enjoy, Possum! And let us know whether it is really true that you have less time when you retire than during your working life - although you could always exchange views with Barnacle when you rendezvous tongue
No such chance of "retirement" in my "key" job unfortunately frown

Don't retire from the forum though, keep us posted with gossip from your side smile

Congratulations Gaeme, and welcome to the "Old guys rule" club. Although not officially retired myself (acting, unpaid, pensioner) the above keeps me busier than I ever was when in work. Seven Fiats currently keep me a little too occupied at times. wink

Thank you all very much for your good wishes.

I have been clearing out the office these last couple of days with all the furniture etc out tomorrow (Wednesday).
I am amazed at how much stuff one has accumulated after being in the same office for 17 years!

Barnacle, you will excuse me for not hopping across to Adelaide to greet you when you pass through on your way to Woomera. But, if you are very lucky you may sight the only known Coupe in South Australia.
