RIP Neil Armstrong.

Where were you at the time of the first landing ? We know where Barnicle was as he was collecting his first pension payment.
But really where were you ?

You know to expect it of your heros but what a shock. Individuals like him are legends in their lifetimes.

Cheeky!

I was all of nine years old... watched the landing, got sent to bed, and woken again at some ungodly hour in the morning to watch the first steps.

At least, that's what I remember from over forty years on. How much of it is memories of memories, reinforced by seeing the event later or influenced by the great moon-landing consipiracy I don't/can't know.

I was reading about NA's manual intervention to actually fly the lander to a safe spot, with only seconds of fuel left. That is a test pilot for you. RIP

This was a big event, even at first hand back in the day, the whole world had their eyes on this, especially so certain countries. As a spotty teenager I was transfixed by the whole story/adventure as it unfolded.

Only now can I appreciate what a brave man Neil Armstrong was.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

I know it's apocryphal, but I still like the "Good luck Mr Gorsky" story!
For me, born in 1965, Neil Armstrong has been a part of my entire conscious life. Hard to think of anyone who achieved a more astonishing first in human endeavour.

And they'll never tell us the real reason why that is.
