The side sills and non-standard strut brace give it away.
the seats appear to have red stitching on though, white dials and red brembos.

I would recommend that a good appraisal and a thorough test drive is in order before parting with any cash for this motor!
The seller has '0' feedback, the advert is suggesting he wishes to relinquish all responsibility for this car once sold (you can only do this if it is sold as spares and an invoice is given to that effect)
it may go for what seems peanuts but you know how the story might end ?

gotta be £3k worth in bits alone, easy - but i too would be careful if i was buying this to drive long-term more i look at that the more like a plus it seems - is that a silver push-button start behind the steering wheel pic?

its a turbo 6 and its had a rebuild but nowhere is there any evidence of it having forged pistons or rods there is a hybrid turbo and a chargecooler though that is not much on its own i also would be extremely cautious the seller (with whom i have had a chat as i do with any interesting car that comes up) sells spares and salvage normally and thats how it will be sold...do not buy if you are not prepared for a big project..oh and its many shades of grey

No test drives. No warranty. No protection. No come-back.
No flippin chance mate. Personally I'd run a mile from that. But, some mug will buy it.

its not a given the buyer will be a mug! if i have anything on up that way i will go and take a look..i have bought a few cars for spares now and when i find out all its got going for it i might put a bid in and break it..if anyone buys expecting to just use as a daily driver then i agree with the mug judgement though

i have just been to have a look & its clean appart from the ding in the picture, it sounds nice appart from the ac pump & the interior is v.clean ,fsh, it's had some serious cash spent on it acording to the receipts all from a place called L&M so would be an idea to look them up & see if they know the car...
the guy drives a yellow coupe himself & had never herd of the forum - would end auction for £1500 but im sure you would get it cheaper as he told me he's getting married next week. its worth £1500 either way or bid ...

its still different colours if you look closely the rear bumper is the furthest out colourwise.. its not so much people knocking the car as warning potential buyers what they are likely to get when buying a car thats had work had at least one bump, has different coloured panels, with what that emplies and is being sold as scrap... if you have faith in a vehichle you don't sell it as scrap and to be fair the guy deals in that type of thing.. i am glad you have gone and been pleasantly suprised you could equally have gone and found a real nail i would say though that to make a nice clean car of it you will need spend a fair amount of money on paint for a start i get the impression you like it and as long as you have your eyes open and objectivity working overtime have a punt what did it sound like on start up and did you get an oil pressure reading when it was hot?

there's a receipt for it being rebored & bigger pistons from L&M allong with allot of other things.. i cant understand why the guy isnt keeping this one & selling the yellow one he's driving... its newer & i actualy thought it looked better, i didnt notice the bumper being a different color but if all that work is done to the engine im sure it makes up for it.. i do like it but like i said i wont be bidding due to too many cars on the drive again......

L@M have done work on this car as you can tell 100% with, the charge cooler pump is fitted in the wrong place,to high and will give air locks, dont no why they put it there.

my mate has a 16vt with an engine l and m rebuilt and its oil pressure is below 1 bar in less than 10k and that was a full 5k build..they have a 16vt that has been for sale for over a year its on pistonheads now it crops up all over..i know someone bought it on ebay for 1600 or something and they wouldnt part with it as it wasn't enough for them even though they did it as a no reserve after the unth time of trying..i was going to go and see it over a year ago and on speaking to one of the guys that worked there with my motor trader head on i realised before i left it was not in the condition the photos suggest and the nice alloy wheels in the pics are not even on it..they would have been extra! not people who i personally would want to deal with again

i would also say then that theres no way they would have put forged in without the customer stating they wanted them in which case if he has kept all other reciepts the one for them would be with the rest

2k for what though? just for pistons ? if so someone has been massively ripped off as they are 500/600 or so for forged so that makes me think that £2000 was for stripping the motor and fitting oversized? reboring and rebuilding because thats way too cheap if you include the forged pistons...2k is the type of price you would pay to have them do a cheap rebore and standard pistons or a fit oversized in situ job

i would also bet if they used forged it would say so its a big difference and they would be listed with a price as they are more expensive than standard...also as i say i know a bit of l and m not just what i have mentioned and its not the type of thing they offer or would do without the owners specific request and then you would have a reciept or as i said if they supplied they would have written supply and fit forged as they would bump up the bill.. they have probably had ovalling or borewash/backpressure or somesuch some wearing of the bores which they have then had to either rebore or hone in situ although you would desperately hope not the latter then fit next size piston which is standard practice and would explain the bill i would bet any amount of money they have not fitted forged..why would they?

i am not trying to to rubbish this car but i really think you have lost your objectivity so i am playing devils advacate..it comes across like you are sold on it and want it to be something it probably is not...not that it matters much if you are not buying but just in case you were secretly hankering to do so.....

more expensive than most places, and i'm not sure why. For me however, they are just half a mile away, so if I have a problem, it comes down to convenience, though if it's for preventative maintenance (clutch/cambelt etc etc ) i'll take it to Midland or Motormech... ...L&M have always been really helpful, I just don't think they look into the coupe 'scene' very often to see what others are charging these days....
