Front brakes - including calipers #1624237

I need to get my front brakes sorted, either by refurbishing the existing calipers or upgrading to something better. I'm happy with 16inch wheels and trying to resist going bigger in terms of both wheels and brakes - looking for options I found this K-Sport brake kit https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/648497/fiat/k-sport-front-big-brake-kit/fi02-304x28.html so wondered if anyone has any experience of it?

For less money I could get my calipers refurbished and some CL pads - as the car is used for hillclimbs a good performance from cold is ideal but they never get overly hot as there is limited braking and I only do one run (70 seconds if I'm lucky) per hour.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Standard calipers, with the right discs and pads will be fine - no need to spend a small fortune on new calipers.

You just need something that bites at low temperatures. Pagid Blue is my normal "everyday pad" recommendation (ie it doesn't need loads of heat to give good braking)

However, you might want to do some research on CarboTech (XP8 or XP10) - I had some once and they were epic, but they absolutely trashed the cheap discs I was running at the time

Thanks Nigel. Having also posted in the Facebook group and receiving advice there I'm definitely thinking of getting a spare set of calipers I have rebuilt and upgrading pads and fluid, then probably going for the floating discs you've mentioned before as the next upgrade.
