So, Elsie the S-Type with the fiery features has left us for a new home. In keeping with the old adage of never getting your money back on a labour of love, we took a bit of a financial hit. However, we have taken the car to half a dozen local shows and it has proven an effective marketing tool, so we probably haven't lost that much overall.
We told ourselves that we couldn't have a new project until we'd sold the previous one, so we're now looking around for the next big idea.
In the meantime, our office/caravan is now up and running:
Caravan of love! We have also bought another, small Monza caravan (a 30-odd-year-old T1000), which we were going to strip and turn into another office, but after getting it back to our workshop from where we purchased it in the West Midlands, we found it was in better condition than we thought. The new plan is simply to revive it inside and make it look the nuts outside and sell it as, well, a caravan!
The most exciting part is that we have found an effective way to remove the paint and polish up the aluminium bodywork, so it's going to have a slightly retro/Airstream look.
Photos will doubtless follow in due course.
Of course, with Elsie gone, we now need a means of moving the caravan around, so I'm looking for the cheapest large vehicles with a tow-bar and electrics on eBay and Auto Trader!
Another 807/C8/Ulysse is calling me!
