Loc: Lancashire
Price: £ 500.00
Engine and model: 2.0 20v Turbo
Mileage: 77,200 miles
Body colour: Sprint Blue
Interior colour and material: cloth seats, no carpets
Manufactured in: 1997
MOT / tax: No MOT/SORN

Having finally realised that I have no time, enthusiasm and now space, I have decided to part with my 1997 sprint blue 20VT Track project.

I purchased it many years back as a CAT C that had been partly stripped for track use though not completed. My plan was to finish it off….. Years later it’s been sat in my garage with no sign of getting sorted, and now having just moved house it’s got to go…

Condition,
With 77k its low mileage and the engine has good compression on all cylinders. Oil pressure is 3bar cold and just over 2bar hot, and pulls well.
In my ownership the cooling system has been overhauled with a new radiator, stat, sensors and full silicon hose set. The brakes have also been overhauled plus new handbrake cables fitted. Though the discs are a little corroded now due to being stood outside. This is a non aircon car.
Bodywork is in generally good condition with a few small marks/small dents, though the rear right-hand quarter panel is badly dented. This being the reason it’s a CAT C. overall the car is clean and has very little rust, it has also been waxoyled, and had it wheels refurbed with 4 good Kumho tyres. It also has a new battery. Some history.

As explained this car has been stripped for track use as there is no back seats, carpets, trim etc. or any sound deadening at all, and due to not having airbags anymore or any wiring/ecu for them will now (Aparantly) not pass an MOT. It does have an aftermarket heater unit for windscreen demist however. The sunroof is fitted and sealed but not connected.

Known technical issues:
The clutch has a very high bite so would assume it’s on its last legs. Slight coolant leak from the water rail to cylinder head (due to being sat around for so long), will be due a cambelt change. Turbo is a bit smoky but boosts fine.

Modifications:
Stainless cat-back Cybox exhaust, boost gauge, Sparco steering wheel, Chipped (unknown type) and dyno’d at Turbo Technics and showed 245bhp according to previous owner.

I had this car MOT’ed recently (October) at a garage I trust to get an independent view of its general condition as it has been stood for so long.
It failed on the following; Hazard warning tell-tale not working correctly (the hazard switch has been replaced and does not flash). Driver’s airbag missing (an aftermarket steering wheel is fitted), offside track rod end ball pin shank loose,
The first two failures are down to the nature of the strip out for track use and were expected (with some work this could perhaps be recovered), so a new track rod would sort this car mechanically from a MOT point of view. Other than this they said it was “surprisingly good for a 20 year old Fiat”..!

This will obviously need to be trailered away as it has No MOT or Tax; I have driven it to and from the MOT test station with no issues other than those explained above.

I really would like this to go to a forum member, either as a project or a source or spares and not have to put it on EBay....

Car is located near Preston,

Looking for a quick sale.

Mike Balchin.

I also have many spare parts that I will be looking to sell plus a brand new OMP bolt/weld in roll cage (AB/105P/51).
