I was speaking to Joe Knight last year and he said he expected there would be a similar event to the 20th anniversary.
That is the extent of my knowledge, I’m afraid!

I think that's just Toby (Gripped) reminiscing about the trip...

The various regions in Italy hold annual Coupé meets. They are not quite as spectacular as the anniversary events that have been held in Turin but they are often 3 day / weekend events. I just missed This One... And This One Too

That is the extent of my knowledge, I’m afraid! There were rumours about this but the Italian club officials I often speak to have been saying publicly that it is highly unlikely they'll organise another huge event like the 10th & 20th events. But highly unlikely is far from a definitely not. That said I do know it took a great deal of time and effort from the fellows to arrange the last event and I'm not sure if are up for taking on such a task again. We all loved the event but you would have to have been blind not to see how stressed some of those fellows were during the running of the event. I'm not sure if they really enjoyed it as much as we all did

The reason I ask is because many of the Italians speak little or no English but you'll find them on Facebook. Facebook has auto translate and this allows multi lingual conversations, each party just has to accept that it's not always 100%.

Countrycruising has just taken on the role of European rep for the forum so perhaps worth a chat with him in relation to a possible 25th anniversary trip?

Oh that's a good idea, someone to collate all the information and get the meets publicised. Just got to convince people to get their coupés across the channel then. It will be a bit of a fright to all the minimal mileage, high value brigade So far we've done just shy of 2700 miles on our current trip. We've got a few more days here then our next stop is in mid France before we head home. that will be about 900 miles if we don't deviate. But I just know we'll head off somewhere

Ok finally yes Italy has released dates for a mini gathering on the 22nd & 23rd June 2109, I say mini as the weekend won't be anything like the 20th anniversary, they're keeping it small so no planned visit to the Pininfarina factory or the Lingotto roof top, it'll be meeting, a drive somewhere and then lunch so please if you think they're organising hotels etc like 2014 they won't be, if we go we'd have to book that ourselves and the feeling is they're going big again for the 30th in 2024.
While we've been waiting for dates I've been chatting with Rene who runs the Dutch club and now they/we know it's June the feedback is the dates don't work for their holiday period, I think many here in the UK would also struggle but we need your feedback. There's also a proposed road trip for late August where we could meet the Dutch and some other owners from France and Germany, travel and stay in France, Luxembourg, Austria back up the East side of the Alps, Germany, home or Holland, it needs further discussion for sure but either the club will be involved celebrating 25 years in form or another.
Thoughts?

Sounds like maybe a small contingent from the club might make the trip in June? I would definitely go and then drop in on my sister, although Travelling through Italy with Doris and no air con was a tad warm.
We have been accepted for the 2019 Silverstone Classic and provisionally accepted for a track parade to celebrate the 25 th Anniversary- might that be a runner for our club and some of the other European coupe owners? It’s a good weekend and the facilities are excellent?

Hi everyone. Sorry my bad english I hope you understand me! Many of you know me, I'm Giorgio and you know my team Franco and Luca for organizing the 10 years of the fiat Coupé in 2004; organized the 20th anniversary of fiat Coupe. And now after 5 years we begin to organize a historic and European event for the 25th anniversary of fiat coupé .. All the info are top secret, but the event will be on 22 and 23 June 2019 in the city of Turin. We are building a dedicated website and every official news will be published on the new website www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it or facebook: sezione piemonte club del coupe fiat. The only real news will be in the final program in January. Stay tuned- Regards. Giorgio

Now that we're 2019 and that much closer to our Turin road trip it raises the question for planning, the duration, where we stay and how we get there. I'm hoping Giorgio will update us with hotel details for Turin, this and the program so assuming the anniversary meeting is the two days 22nd-23rd June I was looking at travelling over early on 20th for a night in Switzerland, Friday arrive in Turin, enjoy the weekend and reverse it so I'd travel back to the UK on the Tuesday afternoon, if that sounds right let me know so I get an idea of how many rooms to book for both sides of the journey.

Hi Joe Very interested in joining you for this road trip especially if it includes an "Italian Job" style drive over the Alps. Tunnels are so boring (And expensive) Dave A route over the Alps would be awesome, what roads to you take when you drove down for the 20th?

Boys, Coupé owners ....... finally we on Friday January 25th we will have meeting with event organizers. Then we will have answers to everything. Meanwhile, we have found 3 hotels for you and will provide you with more precise information. Even how many fiat coupes can participate. We are working for you Thanks Giorgio, ideally hotel accommodation for 3x nights from the Friday.

I need to run something past your guys, driving times from Dunkirk to Bern Switzerland is 8+hrs, that's the road time Europe side so doesn't include the Ferry crossing from the uk, too much for one day, thoughts? It’s certainly a very long day. Question is, where do we stop otherwise?

I need to run something past your guys, driving times from Dunkirk to Bern Switzerland is 8+hrs, that's the road time Europe side so doesn't include the Ferry crossing from the uk, too much for one day, thoughts? It’s certainly a very long day. Question is, where do we stop otherwise? Clint what would your travel plans be, drive down on the first day and stay near Dover?

From experience - much nicer to stay eu side somewhere and have a quality beer to two in a new place- then to spend the night before uk side near a ferry terminal.
But obviously it adds another night (or two) to the travel...
regards Totally agree, driving in Europe is so much nicer then the UK roads and traffic. I'm happy to go the extra night if everyone is, means a possible extra night on the return leg of the journey as well.

Still looking to get to this one. This trip was just going to be me and my film maker but I can't leave Trish at home, the dates straddle our wedding anniversary! The Coupé needs loads of work doing too - got most of the parts just need to get the enthusiasm to fit them and then get other work booked in! And finally I have to try and convince myself I want to drive the Coupé that far again. Since Norway I've not gone further than 200 miles in any one trip! I have even looked into sticking a tow bar on the Audi and taking the Coupé on a trailer

Extra night each way is fine for me. I would drive down from Leicester and stop overnight in Dover before we headed across the channel regardless as it is 5-6hrs from my location.

You would all save loads of hours by getting over the channel in the evening and staying the night France side and an early start the next morning. I've done it countless times and it really tells at the end of the day.

I'm still unlikely to be able to make this trip, here's some distance experience...
We regularly do Hemel to Struan (Isle of Skye) regularly, both in the coupe and in the Bravo. 660 miles, and usually around ten hours of driving. We do that in a day, leaving around seven (in both directions). It's better going up because the roads once you get north of Glasgow are both quieter and more interesting than motorway; coming home it can get tedious and slow.
We also do Hemel to Berlin, most recently over xmas, and that's boring motorway all the way. That's around 850 miles, and again we do it in one day both ways. The average speed is a little higher (though we do remember that the speed limits on the continent do also apply to the British) and our normal run leaves home at 0430 and gets us to Berlin at between six and eight, depending how much we stop for food. Again, we've done it in Coupes - 16NA and 20VT - and in the diesel bravo and the cruise control is bloody useful. You need to keep your wits about you on the motorway if you're doing 130kph or so because some bozo can be behind you at 300kph - from first visible to up your backside in fifteen seconds or so.
So yes, it is quite possible to do long distances without a break (other than that enforced by the crossing, and fuel stops) but it helps no end if there are two of you driving. A break is definitely indicated.
Five years ago we spent a week getting to Torino, stopping first in Ulm in Germany and then a short break in Brescia.

Even if we stay French side and leave early it's still an 8hr drive whatever way you look at it, it's a trip we're meant to enjoy so I for one will welcome a more relaxed drive and extra day, itinerary so far is:
Dover-Dunkirk 9am ferry 19th June, present costs return are £130.00. 1st night Best Western Hotel Crystal in Nancy, 5.5hrs driving from Dunkirk, costs £89.00 - £120.00. 2nd night Geneva not Bern so we have more choices for routes to Turin, Best Western Hotel Porte Sud de Geneva, costs £66.00 - £100.00. 3rd, 4th and 5th nights in Turin (Giorgio hopefully very soon with this info) 6th and 7th could be the reverse of our route down or different as some may choose to hit it hard home, myself I was thinking leave Italy and heading back through France to stay in Paris 24th, ferry back on the afternoon of the 25th.

Thanks for the info Joe, is it down to individuals to book hotels and ferry passage or do you envisage a group booking once Giorgio gets back in touch?

Unfortunately I won't be going, but for those who are, it is worth checking AFerry as they are frequently offering discounts on all the channel crossings. I used to use them on the Dover- Dunkirk route when I was organising the SpaItalia weekends.

For hotel for the night between the 22nd and the 23rd we will give you 3 Hotel names to which you will have a lower cost. The choice of the hotel is free and you have to book the night after you enter the list of participants. The whole program will be visible on the website www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it and this is the only truth. The program so far does not know anyone but only me and Franco

We've decided to pull out I had lined up a trailer and booked in a tow bar fit but this morning I cancelled the tow bar. I have a lot of plans for 2019 and this Turin trip was starting to affect those plans. So I just have to drop out! We may still look at flying over but the Coupé won't be going. 1. CC 2. Barnacle + 1 3. Ballypete 4. Serg1 5. BBR + 1 6. skulkin [+1] [probably] 7. Phil Vincy LE + 1 8. Clint (clintos) 9. Klaas + 1 if + 1 confirms 10. Gilbo + 1 11- Coupedummy+1 hopefully 12. Hi friends. It will not be an event like in 2014, but we will be guests of the great International Automobile Show in Turin, Parco del Valentino. https://www.parcovalentino.com/Looks an amazing venue Giorgio, a chance to see some very special vehicles. Have you got an information for hotels yet?

Thanks for the update and web links Joe So 40 "seats" for foreign visitors. Is this "cars" or "people" do you think? Looks fun though :-)

Anybody with up to date info regarding driving in Europe after March 29th? There was talk of our UK licenses not being valid after this time, or was that just more scaremongering?
This is how it should have come out of Torino!

Judging by the amount of shite and misinformation being posted about it from all sides in the media probably best to wait and see post 29th March...

Anybody with up to date info regarding driving in Europe after March 29th? There was talk of our UK licenses not being valid after this time, or was that just more scaremongering? The worst that could happen is that you'll need an IDP, just as for the US for example

Nope, In fact I can remember the local Gendarmarie in Verteiac being impressed because I had "Poids Lourdes" on mine when they stopped me..

I've had several IDPs in the past, as well a real (green) green cards for insurance.

Judging by the amount of shite and misinformation being posted about it from all sides in the media probably best to wait and see post 29th March... I'm lurking on this post but hesitant to make any decisions for that very reason. The Idiots....sorry misspelt that - the politicians... clearly have no clue about what will happen. Extension or no extension - the main issue for eu travel appears to be the French. The Italians are in a pretty anti-eu mood and are likely not to want to punish Brit tourists too much. But the French - sounds like they are demanding green card for the car via your insurer as a minimum- but maybe they will demand even more. I could be bellicose and say to hell with it I guess....but don't fancy finding out miles from home that I'm in breach of x y and z new rules as a non European....the French like to do things via your pocket by the side of the road.... Will keep watching this post develop. MM

I can't see that it's a problem, insurance companies are sending out emails advising applying for green cards 14 days in advance just like we used to have to do, Post Offices (if you can still find one) are still issuing IDPs like they always have been, and for my upcoming visits to Assen and Turin, I can try to minimise the time spent driving in France...

Joe,
Are we going for group bookings of hotel and Eurotunnel or doing this as individuals? What are your thoughts?

I'm still wondering which route / how long to take getting there and back... Last time I took the quickest route down, mostly in France on Autoroutes, and paid around £100 for the privilege, but no stopping at toll booths with a Liber-t tag. Took an early Thursday morning ferry to Calais, drove from down to Lyon and stayed the night, then into Italy via the Frejus tunnel  to lunch near the Pininfarina place, Lingotto and museum on Saturday, Fiat museum and police escort through Turin on Sunday. Mirafiori on Monday then back via the Stelvio Pass and stayed the night just the other side in Prato Allo Stelvio, then on to Reimerath just south of the 'Ring, up the next day for 3 laps then on to the Abarth Museum in Lier, Belgium and then Calais for a Tuesday evening ferry back to Blighty.

I recommend TransferWise for a direct bank transfer, much lower commission and better exchange rates. If you use a referral link I give you, you can get a free or discounted transfer (and I get a credit too, but only if you transfer over £200). I started using it for the last Turin trip (where we paid a larger amount in advance). On smaller transfers the savings are less, but you can enter an amount in PayPal and see how much you have to pay in GBP and you can do the same with Transfer Wise and calculate the saving...

MM Rob do it Used the drive back from work basically telling myself Joe's absolutely right- what's the point of having the car if not to take it out and feel the Italian Sunshine. Why haven't I just booked? and bo**ocks to Brexit. I'd convinced myself to pay the funds and get on the list. I could taste the italian cold beer in the sun. Return home to be reminded I've already booked for something in London.... on the 22nd!!. A long promised event!. Can't see anyway out of it... Talk about gutted...bugger bugger bugger-how can both event come down to the same weekend? MM

Ok I need some help here before I loose my shit!
How much needs to be sent, to who and for what?
I got in a muddle and sent the wrong amount last week to the Italian club, sent too much, now I'm stressed with it all and no doubt pissing off the organisers as well as our correspondence is getting shorter.
And breathe. Count to ten and .... See here for details - http://www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it/25th/events.1. Send €40 for your car access to the exhibition / event. Send to "CLUB DEL COUPE' FIAT" account. -- Add "RADUNO 25TH Fiat Coupè, car registration, driver name and how many participants" as reference. 2. Send deposit of 20 € per person for Sunday lunch (rest will be paid when we get to event accreditation). Send to "HOTEL ATLANTIC" account. -- Add "RADUNO 25TH Fiat Coupè, car registration, driver name and how many participants" as reference. Same as per 1 above. 3. Complete form with your details - http://www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it/25th/inscriptions.4. Send email to "25th@clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it" with a screenshot or other copies of the payments made in 1 and 2 above. 5. You will then get a response from Giorgio and be shown on http://www.clubdelcoupefiat.piemonte.it/25th/iscritti_eng6. Optional : If you wish to take part in the "Gran Premio" on Sunday. You need to register here - https://www.parcovalentino.com/en/gran-premio-tribute/apply-online. -- The cost is €350+ -- Not sure how many Coupes will take part in this? Is it more for exotica and such like?
Last edited by 1st_things_1st; 19/03/2019 19:32. Reason: Added bit about "Gran Premio"

Hi as far as i have understood the thing for The Gran Premio you have to register and send 2 or 3 photos of your car,.then wait for then to contact you back, and then go further with the payement. my italian is not good.
That's how I understood it too Franck- I applied and have an email from them saying the organisers decide and let the owner know in due course. I originally thought this was mandatory but it appears a separate event from the anniversary plans
