Hi All,

A colleague of mine nicely reversed in to my rear quarter panel, denting it above and below the rear slash. On recommendation by Noel Dazely i went through the legal cover and seeked a cash in lieu settlement whcih seems to be progressing well, i think....

However, Markerstudy who is my actual insurance company wrote to me asking to give them a report, so i rang up and gave them the details. When i gave them the year of manufacture, 1999, the operator promtly told me, and i quote, "ok sir well regardless as to whether you had scratched the bumper, or rolled the car, with a vehicle of this age, if you were making a claim we would automatically be looking to write the car off".

As you can imagine, this shocked and horrified me, i pay my insurance company to look after my interests as well as 3rd party, clearly i am not getting this service with Markerstudy, therefore, does anyone know if i have a valid claim that i may have been overpaying on my car insurance?

Is there anything i can do mid-policy to resolve this unacceptable attitude? The car was independently valued at £1,905 last Tuesday, so i don't see how a scratch would justify writing it off, yet it seems that Markerstudy only consider age of the vehicle!

Any advice would be great, thank you,
Dan

Go for a specialist Classic insurance policy with agreed value and salvage guarantee.

There are a number out there. Have a read through this thread for ideas.

Normal policies will always work on bottom book prices for values so coupes get written off for trivial damage and peanuts amounts paid out.

16VT and X1/9 1500

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Was turned down on guaranteed value by Glynwoods because the car was not permanently garaged I.e. Parked on the highway!
A bit gutted really but the policy was good and also the price!
But unsure where I stand on value now!😟

Hi All,

I did look in to an agreed value policy last year but in order to do that they said i needed to do less than 7k miles per year, it is my daily driver and do double that.

I will look at other policies as soon as my claim has been settled though!

Thank you.
Dan
