Does anyone know of a good vinyl wrapping place near Newbury? I am thinking of having my VIS wrapped with red chrome vinyl. The lacquer peel is getting really bad all over - poor thing looks like she's got a nasty skin disease! I know I should have her resprayed really but it's so expensive. Unless any of you guys have got a spray gun and would like to have a go???

The problem for wrapping the Coupe is the lack of joints in the bodywork - as there isn't one anywhere a wrap would have to cover both rear wings, C pillars and the roof with one piece and no one makes vinyl that large. I did just the roof on mine to hide the lacquer peel and cheated by doing it in two halves with a stripe to hide the join. If you are prepared to have stripes in some places a wrap would be possible.

£120 a meter for the red chrome wrap and they will need to remove the lacquer peel so that the wrap has a solid base to stick to otherwise it will lift and bubble , any imperfections on the body work will need sorting out to as it will show threw the wrap .

As above. I've save your money as the vinyl can be quite unforgiving. Plus you'll pay good amount of money for a temporary "fix".

Personally, I'd try something like Plastidip. It's not too expensive, and fairly easy to get a reasonable diy job. Have a look on YouTube.

Agree.
Just had to have a van cab painted - intended to wrap it but my painter said it wouldn't stick (he has a wrap guy). There is a primer now that's shiney you can use for wrap but going that route you may as well have the car painted!

Speak to Iain McCaig from Bodyworks in Camberley if it's not too far out. Their work is super at a fair price (and I am proper pedantic!!).
Tell him John the Geordie sent you.

Always seem to have too many 20VT's to count......

I slightly overcame the issue of the edges of peeled areas showing through the wrap by using a carbon effect - they still show but not as much as they would have done with a shiny material. Mine is only temporary (for a few years maybe!) until I reach the point of committing to a full respray and making the car look much better all round. For now I'm happy with it.
