Think there's at least 4 or 5 of us for a convoy up the M5 from Bristol?

I'll probably have the Nello clan with me (Mrs Nello plus x2 Junior Nellos')....

Looks like its worth paying for tickets in advance :

Auto Italia Autumn Car Day

Admission Prices Advanced On The Day Adults £9 £11 Children (5-16yrs) £8 £10 Children (under 5yrs) FREE FREE Concessions (60 yrs+, unemployed or student) £9 £10 Family ticket (2 adults, 3 children) £28 £38 Track runs to be held at 12.00, 13.00, 14.00. A new date has been set for this popular late summer (previously Autumn) [...]

Not sure from where though? Maybe call Gaydon direct.... Track runs sound good. I've been on the old Airstrips years ago when they had the Rover Factory open days.

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 17/08/2010 10:16

I suggest for those coming from the South or South West that we set up a convoy meet at Oxford Pear Tree services on the A34.

Pear Tree map

This is fed into by the A40, A44 from the west, and from the South or South West via A34 or A420 from M4.

I'm happy to meet here in the car park near the service area (not the hotel)

For me the most direct route would be East on the A44 but I'd be happy to go M5, M42, M40 if there's an organised early meet for coffee and dognuts smile

well i believe entry is at 10 am so say meet at 8:30-9:00 leave for 9:30?

what you think

(correct me if im wrong on entry time)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 18/08/2010 13:43

Google estimates it to be about 50 mins from Peartree via the A34/M40 (thats if the traffic is ok - can sometimes be a bit of a tricky junction between 9-10)

I suggest no later than 9am if we are getting there for 10am.

I dont mind coming down the m5 alittle and go across if the drive is more interesting.M5,m42,m40 is a little uninspiring

Probably be best to meet you at the East bound Hopwood services Reuben, the drive from mine isn't that interesting to be honest.

Joe, could meet you and Phil somewhere on that route?

Ok here's my proposal for anyone joining the convoy going North on the M5, we'll meet on the roundabout above the M5 at junction 7 for 7.30am, Hopwood services is then only 30 minuets away so we'll be there in plenty of time for coffee with Reuben laugh

Sounds good to me Joe.

Reuben, I'll happily pay the mocca premium for me wink

James - shall I meet you on Kellaway avenue at 6.45, to give us time to get to J7 on the M5? Just after Wellington Hill west towards the Gloucester Road?

I'll be bringing my 5 year old daughter and 4 year old lad along for the day, so hopefully they can keep each other entertained, so won't just be you like at Brooklands!

Well according to the website (and i may be missing an obvious point heresilly) but the website says there are tracks runs to be had

http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/event/auto-italia-autumn-car-day/

Down sides are it costs and is limited to 70mph and 3 laps??

Ooh I have driven a jag round this a few years ago.

See it's £20 for 3 laps, but where does it mention the 70mph limit? The straight is about a mile and a half long and with all the machinery there that day that'll be torturous!

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 22/08/2010 11:44

It's done behind a pace car anyway.

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 22/08/2010 11:54

You going to do it Pete?

Is anyone going to do it in fact?!

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 22/08/2010 12:02

Back in 2007 on the same day I think a few people said that the pace car peeled off at some point and most of the cars then booted it and got the chance to do a maximum speed run. I guess this is down to the individual running it on the day?

Re: Auto Italia at Gaydon, Saturday 28th August 2010. - 22/08/2010 15:25

£20 for three laps aint bad considering the track is 3.7 miles long

Yes it's Autoitalia's last one of the year so it should be a good one as there will be 4 or 5 other car clubs going like classic Porsche.

Park next to me - I haven't had a chance to clean it since Mondays rainy track day at Keevil - it's caked in dirt looking sorry for itself. It needs some Patch loving smile

It'll be a thorough hose down at the jet wash this eve and a wax on the day, if it is dry of course!

Given the lousy weather this week, the Coupe will be lucky to see a hoover and jet-wash.

Today is ok here (20 miles south of Gaydon) but Coupe is in having a new bit of exhaust fitted until this afternoon.

Phew, I was worried the pen might run if it got wet. We caught up with the others at Hopwood, so it worked out ok.

I had a really enjoyable day as well - was great to meet more Coupe owners and I was able to get some good inspiration and advice for my Cinq project from other owners there. Thanks everyone for the compliments about the car too!
