Just wandering if anyone will be going this year?
Went last year and it was a good day, very, very hot!!!
Loads of nice cars there and a smattering of coupes.
Be nice to get us all together this year.
Let me know if you are going as last year i helped organise the club area for the fiar forum but this year I want to do this for my coupe bretheran.

Perhaps not in a Coupe, but I should be there, going with my mate and his dad - he has the very good condition Alfa 33 Cloverleaf that always seems to get into the concours area along with the supercars (he's in with the organisers and AROC)

Just had another look at this, so for £75 you can have a single, £95 get's you a double or a twin, plus full use of all the hotel facilities.
Not bad I suppose.

Put me down too - was there last year and it was a glorious day (in fact the only day of the British summer last year in which i managed to get utterly sunburnt!)

And as I only live about 45 minutes away i can turn up on the day, beautiful....

I'll be along again, it was a great day apart from the dog having a pee in the car on the way home! thank god for blankets and leather upholstery. I've taught him to ask to be let out in future.

It went something like this.
I was going, then had to cancel as something turned up, then last moment, that got cancelled, so i went. Got there, with filthy car as i had no time to wash it, but would wash it once there. immediately, got 2 people shouting at me that they were full and i could not park there! I tried in vain to explain, but went on death ears. Aggressive towards me was an understatement. So i told then to shove the stand up their bottoms and went and parked in the car park. It was amazing that even 2 hours after i arrived, they were letting cars on, and even let on cars that were not booked for the stand. I will not go on their stand again.
I find this club, and Sporting Fiats Club to have a great bunch of people, and i am always willing to attend events and help people out.

@ Dave - have we got a stand or just an area for parking together? Reason I'm asking is that we're at a VW Meet the week before and coz we're on a stand, there's no entrance fee. Just curious.

not exactly a stand but an area where we all park together, i'll check up and find out about the entrance fee for everyone.

I'm hoping to get something sorted for the Northern folks - unless someone else wants to take it on?

Possibly more importantly, whereabouts are we going to be parked? I know coupedave was looking into this but he's been away until recently. I've got a frightening thought that we're going to end up all over the place when we get there.

we won't be all over the my friends do not worry!! it is actually pretty organised if it is like last year and the marshalls will direct you to the relevant area so we will all be together no probs.
had a very busy week with work and hardly any time at home but will send an email later to find out entrance fees etc.

Does the Club have any show banners / gazebos etc? Just a thought as there'll be over two dozen coops there which should make quite an impact.

i think scooby has the only banner/gazebo type thingies, good idea though!!

how does meeting at the knutsford service station on the m6 sound? There's a shell garage there for people if they need one and get some brekkies also. We'd have to figure out a suitable time. I think its just less than an hour away from there.

the marshalls last year were really good to be honest, from what i could see anyway and pointed all the coupes to the right bit so we shouldn't have any trouble.
parking shouldn't be a problem either should be plenty of room.

its about 2 1/2 hours from mine according to aa route finder
i was going to leave here 8am and hit the A14 about 8.45
will it be best for us to meet on the A14 at a services
i take it you are comming down the A11 onto the 14.so how about the first services after that...but i dont know which ones they are

I have a word with the boss she knows the routes well and i pm you mate.

so what is everyones opinion on organising the cars, matching colours together (could be moving them around all day as people arrive), putting models togther (again could have the same problem) or just random and let everyone mingle models.

Why not run chronologically from 16V's to Plus's and (6)'s? This would show the slight styling changes as well as engine changes over the years.

May not work with bodykits though, unless they're kept together to show the different types?

Random would be better and a lot less hassle.

Various colours would look nicer mingling in with each other.

If you done chronological or same colours, then you would be there all morning trying to arrange it all as people turned up at various times.
Also, nobody would be able to move from their car, just in case it had to be moved

Although, if there are a lot of us in a small area, it will be fun watching each other trying to move around, with our great turning circles, etc

ok i think we'll aim to meet at swinford which is just down the road, ideally i would like to get the bulk of us there between 8.30 and 9 so we can find our area and get the cars parked up etc but understand not everyone will be able to do that, think if it's possible we should aim to be at swinford for 8.30 as it's only about 5 mins down the road from memory.
this is right at the end of the M6 so however long it takes from where you are all meeting.
which services is best for you lot travelling down, taffy, trev, cowboy and me are all travelling the day before and staying over in lutterworth.

ok there are no decent car parks in swinford but there is a lay by on the a14 just after it passes under the M1 just after the roundabout on the right hand side

lymm to swinford is approx. 1hr 45mins according to route finder so that would mean you all leaving lymm at 6.30-6.45 ish to get to swinford for 8.30.
knutsford apparently takes 5 mins less.

i think we need to establish where is best for you all to meet up to set off.

Cheers Dave. How do these things work then? Do we park up in a field and sit around whilst people walk around the cars or is it fenced off somewhere? If i leave a bit early am i going to have to drive through loads of people?

we will be parked in an allocated area which is indicated on the map but don't worry as they have marshalls who show you where to go.
it's not fenced off so access is easy, generally if it's like last year there are literally loads of cars to see, if the weather is good you can get good pics.
last year me and taffy parked up and had a gander round then went back to the cars for a bit, had a chat with people, then went round for another look a few times.
there are refreshments available from vans and the hall, there are toilets round the back of the hall and some trade areas too selling memorabilia, model cars, posters, all the usual stuff.
was a very good day last year and scorching hot!! word of warning though if it is wet then bring boots or wellies as all the cars are on the grass so you'll get your feet wet otherwise.
i may bring my pop-up gazebo too just incase

Lymm Truck Stop Services or Knutsford is fine for me (southbound I presume). Both have decent car park sizes so no worries there.

Late notice guys but I've bad news. The Italian Meet has had to be binned due to my sprayer carting the car up to Carlisle. He had attended Tatton Park show and was with his dad so it made sense to save a load of cash/time by having him drive the car up. Repair cost is £350 which is great and will be back home in time for the Lakes Meet2 in October. Besides, he's the only one that knows the secret formula for the paint job.........

Sorry I couldn't make it either, we were going to come as a family, however Barcelona airport lost our pushchair yesterday and it hasn't turned up yet. At over 2 stone she's getting too heavy to carry far either, when she loses the use of her legs , maybe next year

well it was a great day and once we got there and cleaned all the shit of the car, the weather managed to stay dry until i got back home. I met some more great forum members who i have spoke to on here but nether met so that was nice, also saw some nice cars including coupe. I suppose the high light to the day was that the coupe members that where there, will probably be famous as the is an gentleman who has bought a coupe so he can write a book on them, and will be using info and pics from our cars.

That was a bad way for me to go though, an extra 40 miles and an hour onto the journey compared to the way I went in the morning.

No, we got caught in it after the M6 Toll. Julie was driving at that point then as she got used to the acceleration, we hit Warp 8 And after everything she'd said about my driving too.

I'm still recovering from the G Forces and stress levels.

I really enjoyed the day, all the coops where shame my bodywork was only halve done. Sorry i didn't talk to some of you, there was a big group but not sure who you was and if you was just admiring the coops.
