Is the plan to go for a bit of a drive?

I might be interested, I'll have to check with the missus as I'm only home at weekends so of course need to spend every living minute with her for 48 hours... \:\)

Yeah - up to The Lakes as I missed out due to car probs \:D \:mad\: Normally when we've met at Brighouse it's for a social but for a drive - why not \:\? Anyone got ideas on this?

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 03/05/2007 23:52

think there was a 'not' meant to be in that, a drive would be good with a 10car convoy!
Posted By: G_Man

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 04/05/2007 00:38

No - I failed to put a punctuation after social - there endeth the English lesson \:P If anyone fancies a drive in open countryside we need to head west out towards t' moors, maybe M62 then peel of north/south.

Hi Big Pete,
Want to meet up then?
Not 100% on exact location of Brighouse (far from you?)
If not will see you there, anyone else planning on going from N/East?

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 13/05/2007 23:30

How about the A629 up to Skipton, then onto the B6265 on over the Dales to Swinithwaite. A684, then A6108 down to Ripon.
Or turn left at Swinithwaite and come back via Kirkby Lonsdale.?

Andy. \:\)

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 14/05/2007 00:59

Ye gods - that's a bit of a route! How's about something a bit more local. Along to J22 - down to Delph - along saddleworth - Holmfirth - then back up to Brighouse. Nice scenery and good roads.

\:\)

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 14/05/2007 13:25

A route needs sorting as this is almost upon us!! Is there a pub along the route?

Feel free to suggest/arrange alternatives.

I do think that once you start changing dates for people, you will always be changing the date.
If yuo get what i mean.

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 15/05/2007 19:04

no, i thought time was being changed to 12 noon only?

Andy. \:\)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 15/05/2007 20:48

Think its a bit late to be changing anything.

Prob working until 11am so 2pm fine, if are meeting at 12 then hang on at venue until after 2 (Bigpete said he was working until 12)

Can I have confirmation on time.

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 15/05/2007 21:30

I will be there for this, its only round the corner from me. what time is it though 2pm????
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 15/05/2007 21:36

Nope, 12 noon as agreed a few days ago. 2 pm is far too late. does not give us a chance to do anything

Andy. \:\)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 15/05/2007 22:32

the change of date was a typo by me, sorry bout this.

reguarding times, i know what sumplug means by the day being spent, but we originally arranged for a meet with (bonnets up) not planning a route, this is a bonus and for the people who have already sorted out the 2pm meet time i feel it would be unfair to change this, so its best if we keep it at the 2pm time for those having work etc!
Posted By: G_Man

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 00:37

Ok - fine by me 2pm it is. Perhaps sometime in the summer we can organise a meet plus drive.

\:\)

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 02:08

we could still go for the route you suggested g-man

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 12:39

Is anyone going to the meet selling their Turbo? Plus if I could get there, would I be an outcast in a non-coupe, lol. Which would be more embarrassing, a Focus TDCI (It does have a Turbo?!?) or a Rover 25 GTI?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 18:49

why not just come along and have a look at the cars and say hi
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 19:20

Will try, be good to look over a few good ones, give me some extra clues on what to look for.

Need to make sure the little one is with Mum, are you stil meeting at The Old Corn Mill in Brighouse at 2PM this Sunday.
Posted By: phil_20VT

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 23:16

I'll be there for 2ish, and to be honest not fancying a drive, but see how it goes on the day.

however if a few that turn up want to go for a spin, no ones going to stop them!
Same with the time to meet, if some want to meet at 12 they can, maybe go for a spin and come back for 2 to meet the rest of us.
Id say here's just the place to sort who is turning up at 12, and who's tunrning up at 2.

Looking forward to meeting a few more owners!

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 16/05/2007 23:35

I thought the best part of the big coupe meet was the driving in convoy. Park and polish with bonnets up is a bit boring.

I think the idea of those who wish to have a drive meet at 12pm then get back to the rest at 2pm is a good compromise. \:\)

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 18/05/2007 00:28

If I can get to the meet on Sunday, is any one willing to give me a guided tour of a coupe (mainly the engine). Really need to see and hear a standard one so I get more of an idea what I am looking for. Seen three now, although engines appeared strong, one had a faint tapping sound, another ticking sound and the last one seem OK but the fan was on far too much for my liking.

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 18/05/2007 00:36

Cheers,

although was literally blasted around by the psycho driver owner today, thrashed the pants of the little coupe, not even warmed up, worn tyres, was looking for an air bag on the passenger side during the little trip, loony, not buying that one, lol.

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 18/05/2007 04:24

I'm at work Bramham Park on Sunday till 12pm so only about half and hour away. Not sure how quick a getaway I'll be able to make. I reckon I'll pitch up between 1 and 2pm and just see who's knocking about. I'm sure I can kill some time in the pub till the majority either return from the earlier mini jaunt or the 2pm people turn up.

Might not make this either °\( The coop has just had a total coolant loss this afternoon - dripping underneath. Unless I can get it fixed tomorrow I'll be a no show. \:\(

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 18/05/2007 22:45

May pop along for an hour or so, have found another coop that I need to look at over the weekend if I can.

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 19/05/2007 14:32

Any luck with the fix G Man?
Sounds like a coolant hose has come off, i think some are a nightmare to access!
If i were you i'd buy yourself a lottery ticket, you have that much bad luck with the coupe, your bound to have some good luck elsewhere!!

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 19/05/2007 16:25

i should know in an hour what the score is. I must remain positive :(, I must remain positive °(.

If it is indeed a hose, hopefully it can be sorted and still make tomorrow....

Yup - hose was split near the turbo but wont be fixed 'till Monday. For me another meet's down the pan \:mad\:

right, after a great time with the coop owners and a big thanks to mick/colin who turned up after leaving a fccuk calling card on his windscren,
i got the car home and stripped it down to route out the problem i realised id turned up the boost instead of down, luckly i drove home off boost so all as well once turned down and ive fitted the fmic to find that there isnt oil in the i/c and no play in the turbo! (thank god) but the rocker gasket is gone but its a good excuss to paint it once off!
thanks for all the support guys, hope to see you all soon!

Re: Yorkshire Meet 20th May - 22/05/2007 03:58

3 Scott Green Coupes indeed, I've only ever seen one other and three end up in a car park. For a first time to a meet, I had a laugh and even my lass wasn't too fussed about being dragged along (I think the dinner at the pub I bought afterwards helped!).

Good day for it and great to put faces to the names and see more than one coupe. Some good pictures on the forum as well. Gonna have to get along to a big event now (even my lass was saying I should go). Great meeting people looking forward to another meet. I think next time I'll make sure I'm the last to leave so I don't get pained looks from people while my manifold heats up and seals itself!
