South Yorkshire Enormo-Meet

Posted By: Brewster

South Yorkshire Enormo-Meet - 15/11/2006 04:37

Well we've discussed it (off-topic ) in the spotting area enough, it's about time we did something, and before Xmas too. Doncaster would seem a pretty central location, how about the Yorkshire Outlet? It has a big car park so I'm sure we can all squeeze in together at the back of it for a photo opportunity. How does Saturday 9th December sound to everyone? That gives you just under 4 weeks notice.

Would be keen on this but I'll be at the footie that day so a non-runner.

Will keep an eye on the thread to see if the day moves to one when I could trundle along.

Good luck...

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 16/11/2006 17:30

Roly, if we met at 12 noon could you not pop down for an hour before disappering off to the footy?

Anyway, list so far,

Brewster
Kingpleb
Robbie249
Robbie249's brother (poss)
Roly (poss)

Where's Dagg? Surely he'll be coming!

Come on boys and girls, This is the second time I've tried to organise this meet, so get your names down!

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 16/11/2006 18:52

Hmmm...

I really want to be there... but:

a) - I haven't heard back from Paul about Motormech sorting my Motor (but finally it'll be getting done - yay!);

b) - I'm going to be in Nottingham for the afternoon/night;

c) - My wife will call me a saddo for meeting a load of weirdos off of the net

Sooo, if my car is back, if the meet is as early as possible, and if I decide I can stand my missus taking the pssss, you can count me in!

Edited to say: I have heard back from Paul now so maybe, just maybe

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 16/11/2006 19:21

Bring the mrs along and we can call her mrs saddo then

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 16/11/2006 21:21

Curse of the Yorkshire meets mate - I've suffered from it too.

Sadly can't do the 9th - I'll be getting a lift up and am usually picked up about 12-12.30.

Could do the same time the next day though. Even though I'm off work for two weeks I'm going in at 2pm this day as a favour...

Just to confirm, meeting at Lakeside (The Yorkshire Outlet) Just off Jct3 M18, you'll see the signs, at 12pm this Saturday. After a meet and greet and a few pics for those who are geeks like me, , we'll set off on the boring bit of the drive up to Sutton for a pub lunch for those who wish to eat, then off for the exciting leg of the journey, back to the Yorks Outlet and then home. I will be printing some maps with the full route and a contact number for those who cant keep up (slow Bravos included )

I'm really looking forward to it, it's gonna be a good 'un.

I'll join the meet at the return to the outlet around 2.45 as you've mentioned Brewster. It's the same venue as the start of the meet right?

Hey Solas - I'm meeting my mx5 mate at Ferrybridge services approx 11.30 tomorrow. Do you want to drop in as well and go in convoy? That goes for anyone travelling down on the A1.

Brewster next time i see you can you bring a turbo coupe so i have a challenge.

And I will be the first to say that Brewster was lucky I had my rubber underwear on or he'd have been putting his cloth interior back in...

In my experience you usually have to slow down and turn the steering wheel to get round a 90-degree bend, but oh no, not Brewster

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 10/12/2006 01:16

I didnt lead anyone no-where as i was heading off back to the mrs

It was an ace meet, the playpark was well cool and the chicken with bacon and chese ontop was ace hey Dagg?

Nice to see everyone there and yes the roads i think you guys went down are not exactly known to have good grip! covered in mud i think in some parts

Thanks again everyone for turning up

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 10/12/2006 16:03

Good meet and thanks Dagg for the pics. Yup - I got confused on the A1 and was travelling in Luffers slipstream until I realised we had split from the main group so I went off at Ferrybridge. I think Luffer was determined to get to Scotland - and why not

Look now , we got round the corner didn't we?! Yes I may not have had traction on any of the tyres at one point but it was all under control!!! Truth be told I was concentrating on where the group were going up the A1 and shat my pants when I realised it was a tight 90! Again thanks to all that turned up, including the Bravo that kept disappearing in my rear-view mirror! As soon as I get the videos converted I'll get links posted here.

I hope we all do it again in the summer (with less slippery roads )

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 11/12/2006 01:40

thanks again Brewster ........i think that furrys bravo at the back was the quickest of the lot as he had perfect traction.
It was a good job i bought a few bravos along otherwise you would have been very lonely.
I will look forward to seeing some footage as well, and i have posted some good pics of my bonnet after that bend .
Dont forget to check out the Donnington park run in march/april hope to see some of you there .

Re: South Yorkshire Mini-Meet - 12/12/2006 16:21

I thought the more scenic route would be better for my car having read the thread about Brewster plus seeing the colour of yours back at Donny. Seriously though I did want to see how much quicker yours and Brewsters cars were. Forgot to mention earlier in the thread, the good pictures from yourself and Dagg
