Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech

Posted By: Anonymous

Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 16:03

Dynotech has one of the best RR's in Kent. A 2009 Dyno Dynamics 4WD 2400hp jobby and not to mention a massive workshop to have a look around in!

I know the owner very well and he's very happy to hold a Kent Fiat Coupe rolling road event if there's enough interest.

It will be £50 for 5 runs on each car measuring boost pressure, AFR and anything else you wish to have checked.

Date is yet to be confirmed but we're just seeking interest first and foremost.

So who's game?

1. Didcoop

Plus 10 is £35+vat... for shootout, is that different to the runs above?

I'm a little lost?

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 17:10

Oh and also you'll receive printouts of:

AFR, Tractive Effort, Boost, Flywheel power, Flywheel torque and power at the wheels. smile

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 17:15

Clicky link

Check this link, show's a shoot out price as £35+vat is this just a single run compared to having the full works? AFR, etc?

Just enquiring smile

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 17:30

That's a very valid point actually! I'll have to chat to Bob (the owner) tommorrow and get the price adjusted for the day wink

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 19:39

lets see if I can make standard power woohoo

My car is completely standard apart from a Powerflow exhaust. One of the last made engines put into it (on 45k) with spot on compression.

What do we think?
Posted By: cyborg7

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 24/03/2010 20:33

I'd be up for this - depending on when and if price can be brought down a bit for say a single run or 2. Completely standard so keen to see if still cuts it.

i could be up for this but i dont see the point in having 5 runs?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 25/03/2010 14:23

I think Didcoop was going to confirm the details of what the costs were and what you get. The point is they can test different aspects AFR, power

DidCoop I'm jumping to this ship. Let us know the details

Oooh that's a good point, I'll get this info tomorrow!

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 30/03/2010 20:09

Right it's £35 each for that you get 5 runs with 4 different graphs (AFR, Tractive Effort, Boost, Flywheel power, Flywheel torque and power at the wheels).

Boost pressure will be measured and AFR also.

So who's game?

1. Diddy
2. Duncan78
3. Insy

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 30/03/2010 20:37

Im up for this Didcoop, depending on what date you come up with.
Ive been to Hayes engineering a couple of times with the MLR forum, my mates got a 420bhp evo 4.
Think i may have spoke to you before Didcoop, at least i spoke to someone there that had a 16vt.

This place has plenty of parking and viewing space, makes for a good day out.

May the 2nd is on a sunday.
Didcoop, if there is space on the day my mate would like to run his Puma, would that be ok?

Had a really good day yesterday at the MLR dyno day, Bob is a really nice bloke. They even had a bbq going!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 11/04/2010 19:17

Yeah no worries it isn't Coupe only but will obviously entail mostly Coupes hopefully!

And yeah Bob is quality, he rang earlier to tell me about the day yesterday, sounded good!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 11/04/2010 19:36

Do you know what the costs are yet? £50 was mentioned earlier, then £35?

Not overly sure I'd need to have 5 runs on the rollers? Or do they take an average? No idea how it works really smile

Really what I'm interested to find out is the current bhp and torque figures.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 11/04/2010 20:37

Insy we have 5 runs for £35. 5 runs are for different aspects, afr, bhp, etc

Gives you peace of mind that everything is running as it should be.

Hope that's helpful smile

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 27/04/2010 23:05

I may take a detour to have a nosey at what you've done to my Coupe Sir David.

I'm not interested in finding out how little power my GTi has got though, I'd imagine it's somewhere the wrong side of 120bhp so not overly exciting!!

That's just a warning though, I may just turn up and kick the tyres! Depends on traffic and hangover though...

I'm usual thoughtless and never ring MOT stations to ask if they have a slot free so me getting there on opening time, it's my best chance to get it done, it's near dartford say between 9.30-10am today laugh

Agree and big thanks again for organising Didcoop. A trip to Flea beckons. Can you or anyone else point me in the right direction of anywhere that explains the graphs more please. A lot of it went over my head. I'll try googling but wondered if there was a good site you'd come across that explains it all in idiots terms for the likes of me. Cheers again Chris

Was very impressed with the torque figures the 16vt were making, must be fun on the road.
Will have to go out in one next time.

Dave, did you stay and see what power the impreza and supra made?

Here is one of mine, was only at 1.35 bar of boost.
Tried turning the boost up but forgot to turn the warning up aswell, so it kept knocking back.

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:01

And another, this one has torque on the graph aswell.
316 bhp and just over 300 lbft torque.

Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:03

Not bad, I doubt the BHP would have go up much past 1.35 bar anyhow as it tails off just before the power starts to peak. What’s the torque? Have you got a graph of torque vs BHP?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:10

Ok just seen you added the graph and the torque drops off with the boost past 5000rpm as I expected, I think that turbo runs out of steam past 5000rpm nether the less Figures look good for your setup.
Posted By: R1DAN

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:19

It is smooth and fast on the road, think Leighton done a good job mapping it.

My Blitz boost controller was telling me peak boost was 1.5bar, but the dyno was showing 1.35bar max?
They were taken from different points though, my controller runs off the recirc valve point and the dyno was joint to the fpr.

I didnt think there would be a difference in the two though.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:31

Yes there will be. My blitz did exactly the same. You need to use the correct size tubing and connect it to a point which will not interfere like the back of the manifold (even though they do connect here eventually). Temperature and pipe length has an effect on the Blitz.
Posted By: R1DAN

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 10:42

Will have to change that then.
I suppose its a good thing though, i thought i was running 1.5bar and pushing it a bit, but turns out its only 1.35.
Still enough for it to pop though!

He did do about 6 runs, but the charge temp was climbing on the later ones so called it a day.

The thing is Dan it doesn't matter...just go outside and rev it and listen to that exhaust. If mine sounded like yours I think I'd live in it lol!

What and not have that turbocharged Lampredi twin cam engine/exhaust note? I don't think so! laugh

Besides 285ft lb torque serves me well tongue

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 03/05/2010 11:05

The 16vt's do have really good torque figures for the bhp they have, both done really well yesterday.

Anymore graphs people?

shame i missed this woulda liked to of come along! dan them figures are quite a bit different to the rollers you was on at flea's. trappy had the same with his when he went and had it on track and road's rollers. Seems the rollers that flea uses over read?

Maybe mate, different rollers different day make it hard to say.
My mate has a Evo that made 427hp at Hayes, three weeks later same dyno it only made 406hp.

On the road it is fast and smooth, and is really good on fuel. Im a happy man!

What is your full engine spec?

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 04/05/2010 16:38

2.25 Supersprint cat back, k&n panel filter, PRV and Gtech1.

Ordered EBV today from flea to help with boost a little and keep the engine management features.

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 04/05/2010 16:41

Slight boost spike to 1.11 bar pressure then back to 1.05 bar, hopefully EBV should sort and make car a little nicer to drive!

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 04/05/2010 18:10

and 2.0 20V turboinator

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 04/05/2010 19:21

Looks like a good amount of power for your setup, I would be happy with the results. Fuelling looks good maybe a tad lean between 3000-4000, small boost spike as turbo kicks in as expected on PRV but nothing to worry about. My next step would be a FMIC (keep the temps down) and maybe a re-map (fuel economy & piece of mind) after the EBC. Keep the standard fuel pump but do the voltage mod and you will have a sorted bit of kit for a very little spend.

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 04/05/2010 20:13

Cheers dude! I always thought the FMIC might hinder my spool up time? EBV is being supplied (lemonade pockets im afraid!) The remap is on the cards though I'll investigate whats going on with temps to make sure im not chasing a red herring.

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 07:35

Thanks again Didcoop. Below are the results from the day for LE#134. It was a bit busy to take it all in but although the graphs below show it wasn't far off the manufaturers quoted details of 220bhp, there seems to be a bit too much of a spike and also concern that it was running lean.

Its down to be serviced by Rog in the next few weeks so I'll get it checked but strikes me that a trip to Flea beckons. If anyone can advise then I'd be grateful. There was thinking that the solonoid or actuator might be misbehaving - but lots of this went over my head so if anyone can explain in simple terms (ideally using puppets).

For info. its completely standard 98 LE. Supersprint exhaust, engine around 50k. On the day for Brooklands I filled up with shell v-power thinking it would do it good and weirdly it felt more sluggish than usual - but probably all in my head.

The standard solonoid is not much use at all doesnt hold boost and spikes quite badly. If your heading up to see flea he can supply an uprated model and create a custom map.

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 11:27

My car has a very similar response on the graphs to Cyborgs car, what is the solonoid and where abouts is it?!

What uprated part do you recommend??

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 11:50

Solenoid is here Get cursor here and tap that button

This controls your boost, maintaining levels and preventing spikes. smile

Really nice coop you had aswell!

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 11:51

You can get a more up to date version of said solenoid from Dink. That's what I'm running and it's much more smooth!

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 12:01

Tim, your uprated EBV has gone in the post today so should be with you tomorrow smile
Posted By: cyborg7

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 13:53

Thanks for this - didn't realise the EBV and solenoid are one of the same. I'm guessing that getting a replacement or uprated EBV would sort out the spiking, but isn't going to address the fact that its running lean and that a remapping needed to stop this?

Any idea how much an uprated EBV is?

Re: Kent Rolling Road Day - Dynotech - 05/05/2010 18:16

Should be around £100 for this, speak to Dink / Flea they both do uprated models and both really nice chaps! Re-mapping most likely will be required or shove a banana up your exhaust to stem the airflow a bit wink
