FCCUK "V" SXOC Rolling Road Day - 5th July 08

Posted By: Anonymous

FCCUK "V" SXOC Rolling Road Day - 5th July 08 - 11/03/2008 00:50

Following on from a successful (for most of us \:\) ) Rolling Road Day at Dyno Demon, I've agreed to try to organise / liaise another day at the same venue, only with a twist. \:D

The SX Owners Club suggested a joint event over the Summer. This developed into trying to accomodate the upcoming TOTB VII on 27th July.

As a result, I've contacted Julian at Dyno Demon to check on availability. They're unavailable for the last 2 weekends in June and the British GP takes place on the 12th - 13th June. That leaves us with 5th - 6th July and Julian has reserved Saturday 5th July.

As it's Summer, DD are willing to operate into the early evening if necessary and estimate that they can get a maximum of 30 cars through.

This will be the same format as last weekend; 3 Power Runs and 2 printed graphs per car and the staff will explain the results and make suggestions etc. Cost will be £40 per car and I think that everyone who was there on Saturday would agree that the levels of customer service and facilities were excellent.

The SX boys are running some decent power (see link below) so it'd be nice if we could get some of our big power guys to this (Eldinho, Ross and Nigel have already expressed interest). However as always, everyone will be most welcome regardless of power output.

So who's up for this? Please post interest / confirmation below.

Unless it's your wedding of course! \:D

No mines on the 3rd May \:o \:\)

I think i'll try and come for the morning and then mysteriously break down meaning I'd have to stay at DD and miss the wedding \:P

Take the PRV off and go back to the standard EBV till you get a Greddy sorted. That way you'll have peace of mind knowing that it won't overboost. \:\)

At the last Coupe/200SX bash at Santa Pod, each club brought their secret weapon

the 200SX boys brought the white S13 - running about 600bhp at the time, with drag tyres and totally stripped out.

I brought the "Fiat 40v non turbo" aka the 355 ;\)

I was expecting to be whupped, as the 355 is booked at 13.0 seconds and the S13 had done low 11s / high 10s.

However, he had fuelling issues and the crank pulley fell off, which meant that Italian honour was upheld - I actually beat Ferrari's own time by posting a 12.89

Lol, the NW has some interesting new additions, including an S14a with a Tomei Stage 4 Genesis engine, the engine is a Tomei standard spec proven for big power, although its only going to be running about 700 bhp ;\) Its a focused track car really, not a show case.

Its all going power mad, my 400 bhp is pretty poor for a 200sx now I have everything I need for another 100 bhp or so, but just dont feel the need so far.

Lol I blame southern softies \:P Track stuff is their more natural environment, they dont break and do well \:D Sadly, thats where at least 3 of the North Wests 400 bhp plus cars will be, competing at Time Attack. I stupidly dropped the ball with that as I was supposed to be going, Hey ho.

Yes you do. They calibrate the dyno against the rev counter at low revs so they can extrapolate through the rev range.

As I've said previously, for me these events are meant for the standard / slightly modded stuff as much as the high power boys.

If you have a standard coop and want to get an idea if everything's OK with it, get a health check from one of the specialists and come along to this. \:\)

If you have started to mod your coop and want to know if it's made much difference / what you should do next, come along to this. \:\)

If you have a heavily modded coop and want to check your performance, come along to this. \:\)

Even if you just want bragging rights with your mates / SX Owners, come along to this. \:D

Yeah, along with the fact that none of us got over 300 when we were there.

They've now got 9 confirmed so this is picking up nicely. \:\)

nah, all we need to do is get a few more reverse gears, and a steering wheel/pedals conversion (to face the other way). Rear steering is going to be the next big thing in F1. You heard it here first.

Re: FCCUK "V" SXOC Rolling Road Day Challenge - 25/04/2008 02:21

Guys,

Many apologies but the SXOC will need to postpone this event. The majority of the 200's that would have ran will be at Oulton Park supporting the several NW members who are competing in Time Attack. In hindsight, I should have pulled the plug as soon as I realised there was a date clash, but as we had some interest I let it run, which was a mistake.

I hope it hasnt caused too much inconvenience, and if dates allow, and you are willing, hopefully we can reschedule. \:\)

Cheers

Steve PM'd me last night to explain the situation and to be honest, I thought this might happen because of the Time Attack weekend. \:\(

I'm going to contact Julien at Dyno Demon today to make him aware, but in the meantime we have a choice; cancel the day, go ahead as a coops only day or look at inviting another Owners Club (MR2 Turbo / NA possibly) ?

There's around 10 weeks before this takes place so we need to make some quick decisions folks.

Comments / suggestions guys? \:\)

I will have just had my pro alloy FMIC, SIP and decat fitted, along with my engine work being completed, so looking at what my spec will be and comparing it with others similar, I would hope/expect to get around 320 bhp. Will the RR operators be listening out for detonation?

This will be the first RR session with all the new bits fitted, so before I go on I'll be turning it up to 1.3 bar for the first time.

1.3 Bar? - this should be interesting. \:D

OK guys - time to put up or shut up. \:D

Here are the time slots for the day. As previously, I've took the 9am slot for convenience but as I'll be there all day, I don't mind swapping if anyone needs to get away early doors.

Dyno Demon (Neston) Rolling Road Day

Saturday 5th July 2008

£40 per car - pay on the day

Running Order;

9.00am MABR (hoping for 270bhp)

9.30am

10.00am

10.30am

11.00am

11.30am

12 noon

12.30pm

1.00pm

1.30pm

2.00pm

2.30pm

3.00pm

3.30pm

Don't forget; this is now a FCCUK Event - SXOC pulled out coz they're too scared \:D - just kidding Steve! So there's no competition as such - just Pub bragging rights if you're that way inclined. \:D

If anyone wants to come along in another (inferior) car, I'm sure you'd be made welcome - eventually! \:D

Anyone who can't be arsed reading back through this thread and needs info, please PM me rather than post on this thread.

There are still plenty of spaces available and DD are prepared to continue into the early evening as it's now light nights so if you're new or have just decided you want some fun, get your name down. \:\)

Finally, if you're thinking of buying a coop and want to see how they perform both standard and modified, get yourself along to this and have a chat - we're a friendly bunch really. \:P

At least if you're going for a Helix you shouldn't have any more problems. \:\)

Put me down for this one Craig - not an early slot though! I owe someone £40 for the hire of a tux, but will invest this money in a session on the RR instead!

Put me down for the 12:30 p.m. slot please - although I'll probably be there earlier & hang around to see what everyone else gets. I'm aiming for anything over 220bhp with the standard chip I kindly got from cowboy, and hopefulyl confirmation that my engine is not going to self-destruct on the way home!! \:o

looking forward to sat !,

just to double check,am i right in thinking they strap your car down underneath somewhere and dont use yout toe points?

if they do use them i will have to chop a little hole in the mesh in my zender front bumper.

can anyone advise?

cheers

Re: FCCUK "V" SXOC Rolling Road Day - 5th July 08 - 03/07/2008 17:53

They don't use the towing points and if it's a genuine Zender Mesh, the hole's pre-cut in the mesh.

Good Grief, had some bad news today. I've had car in garage for what i thought was a C.V joint or intermediate bearing, but turns out it may be the gearbox. I am going to the garage first thing in morning so i can listen to the stephoscope he has for it. Soooooo, basically i might be there or i might not. I'm hoping it will have a bit of life left in it so i can get over as im very eager to see what my recent mods have done. Hope it doesnt cause any problems if i dont show up-i can pay a bit towards if it does. Hopefully ill be there anyway. Cheers guys

I'm contacting Steve later today to arrange the next quarterly date, which will probably be in October.

By the sounds of things, some of you want one much earlier? If that's the case and we can get 10 people confirmed, I'll arrange one for next month (August). I'll start another thread and see what the uptake is. \:\)

EDIT: I've now arranged individual sessions for those requiring boost controller adjustments and sent date confirmations for those individuals. \:\)

The next Rolling Road Day at Dyno Demon will be Saturday 11th October 2008 and I'll now start a new thread for this.

Re: FCCUK "V" SXOC Rolling Road Day - 5th July 08 - 07/07/2008 19:57

Was a great day we all had, although i had to leave early. Car was losing boost at high end [ended up just under 0.6 bar!! \:o ],and would of made 240bhp with adjustable bleed valve. Just goes to show how a standard bleed valve over the years starts to deteriorate. So just with a K&N, capable of 240bhp, so very happy.
Just about all the cars i saw run, had problems holding boost correctly, so could of like me made more power, but most ran adjustable bleed[greddy etc], so require additional fine adjustments. Only real way is a session on the rollers to fine tune.
Most of the cars that ran were capable of a lot more power. Owners now know after Steve explained thouroughly what is required, so iam hoping on substantial increases in power/torque at the next RR day!!!
Thanks Steve at DD for a great day and thanks Craig for organising it. ;\)
