Perfect Touch again - 09/09/2007 08:57

Hi,took my car in to PT for a live map last week and after the recent negative thread about them i just like to share my experience about my visit.
Got there at 9.30am and made feel very welcome by everyone. After a brief chat with Rob he put the car on the roller and talked me through the process.3-4 hours later the result was 286 bhp and 276lb torque @1.3 bar.
At 450+ vat a throw its not cheap but i rather pay a bit more and knowing the job is done properly rather than pay less, goes @arsed up and need to do it again.
All in all im very happy with the job PT has done and if people are a bit unsure wheather to take their cars there or not my advice is,book your car in, it will be in safe hands \:\)

Is it 450+vat everytime? Or is it a lot cheaper for a remap one the initial has been done?

They charge their hourly rate for a remap ... or in my case, they sent me a new chip for free when I needed some minor adjustments (as I live a little far away).

This already had a Unichip map did it not? Why the change to a live map?

Hi,
@Flea: spec is Turbo Technics S161 hybrid,fmic,Turbo back blue flame,Ramair induction,Blitz
I initially wanted a Unichip remap but Rob recommended the live map as that will produce bit more power and more importantly, safety.:)
They charge £110+vat an hour for the unchip map and a flat rate of £450+vat for the live map.
Is the power produced good with the mods i've got?

Good result, nice to see the S161 in action.

It shouldn't take more than 2 hours for a remap really. \:\(

Re: Perfect Touch again - 12/09/2007 00:08

yes you do have a unichip installed.

they must have removed it, or atleast bypassed it.

id have just remapped the unichip, would have been cheaper and as kenno says sohuldnt take more than 2 hours.

still, your results are good and on par for the S161. what Fuel did you map it on?

the remaps dont cost £450 every time, rob can edit the map now, so they just charge their hourly rate.

Re: Perfect Touch again - 12/09/2007 01:09

What power did it make on PT rollers before the live map? IRC Fishy had around 300lbs/ft and 285bhp so why did you need to go for a remap?

Fishy lied. LIED! to look big and clever in front of his peers.

Nah just kidding I have no idea. \:D

Re: Perfect Touch again - 12/09/2007 05:49

When PTS remapped my car last year the ecu was faulty but they carried on mapping it anyway and cocked it up.Although torque is slightly down compared to Dave's figures it now drives better than ever and is holding 1.1 bar redline.
Yes,the Unichip has been removed by Rob.
Is the live map that much better to justify the extra cost or just have the Unichip remapped and saved some dosh?

Re: Perfect Touch again - 12/09/2007 12:40

IMO you should have gone for the latter and saved yourself £250. I don't think the live map gives any more power or more safety than a unichip. It just comes down to how the mapper sets your car up.

Nice result!
If you want to compare with original turbo (and the tuning stuff I have on the Coop) check out my post here: http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=425685#Post425685

I want to see a torque/bhp graph.

I've just changed my Live map booking from next week as I cannot make it, and PT are now booking into November!!!
They must be doing quite a lot right to have that sort of lead time...but it's worth bearing in mind if you are thinking of going!
