'For fun' cycle routes

'For fun' cycle routes - 19/06/2012 06:56

The last long ride I did was a couple of years ago, on a mountain bike though the path is all on roads, some single track.

clicky

Way up on Skye, and the last short climb nearly killed me - looking at the elevation map I should probably have gone anti-clockwise instead... don't recall the time but the views were amazing.

Anyone got any other interesting routes?

That looks like a gruelling route, but I bet the scenery was brilliant!

I've always fancied riding the Ridgeway from end to end. The elevation means that you can see the country as if it was on a Google Satellite view (well almost).

Yeah. The heights on that elevation are only in feet, but some of those climbs are 1-in-3...

Did you stay on for the 1 in 3 climbs?
1 in 10 is about as much as I can stand.

Are you still doing the cycle touring these days?

Only rarely. This was just an opportunity that cropped up. At the moment I need a new spoke for a wheel...

The 1 in 3s I stayed on for but I was going very very slowly!
