You could try Footman James ask for an everyday classic quote you dont need or earn any no claims discount as its a classic policy you do need to have use of another car though the mileage can be limited to 1500 / 3000 / 4500 per year i got 1500 for £180 and 3000 for £250 with that you get legal/breakdown inc europe i am 41 but they still may give a better quote good luck

Have you tried adding your mum / sister / girlfirend / wife to your policy? Having my wife on my policy saves me over £100 on my insurance.

Re: £575 best quote 7NCD - 20/07/2010 09:45

yeah use to have my mum on policy

but it no longer works out cheaper, think she got too many points or claims

footman james said to qualify the car must be 15 years or older

i questioned this and they had none of it
not even doing classic every day or limited milage

so all those with them now , may be in for shock come renewal time

Re: £575 best quote 7NCD - 20/07/2010 09:48

the way i do it every year is to just go through the comparison sites, its a total waste of time for me to phone all individually, especially the smaller boys.
Kwikfit phone me every year and i explain there is no point wasting my time on the phone with them.

I'm 24, 6 yrs no claims. for 20Vt plus, ive got 800 quid is the best quote. third party fire/theft.
I can't see the point of drivers under the age of 26 going fully comp (unless it's cheaper obviously) as we would never make a claim anyway.

Try moneysupermarket.com/gocompare/confused. Directline is not listed on the comparison sites, as is aviva (Norwich Union).
Like the above comment, add named drivers is so easy to do. And, i think confused, on the end page with all the quotes up, you can simply tick/untick the named drivers individually and see which combination comes out as the cheaper.

It's not illegal, just playing the game smile
good luck

i was more replying and giving info about the footman james

i cant use the comparison sites either come up as a plus not a 20vt, puts the price up

even though log book fine and dvla happy with it all

ive had quotes as low as 450. im not having a problem getting insurance

but like i say was giving feedback about footman james no longer doing what they use to

Well maybe its only existing customers as ive been with them for 2 years and i moved it to my Le about a month ago and at no point did they say they dont do it anymore i did mention them to a guy buying my old coupe and they quoted him though that was 2 weeks ago maybe it needs to be a 1998 model (12 years old)

Just spoke to Footman James myself they said the insurer has just moved Fiats into classics after 15 years and they dont insure all area's. Also as im an existing customer they will honour there policy with me at renewal but they may not take uo new business sorry for the crap advice i did tell them they are missing out on lots of business though. frown

My wife is an insurance brocker and she is talking to some specialist insurers about an owners club discount so if you can wait awhile it may be worth it.
