Renewal Time

Renewal Time - 15/08/2007 17:27

Since I turned 30 this year I was (foolishly) imagining a cheaper insurance quote this year but would appear not.

Since I had the problems with my car I had to insure another car and change that to be my primary car with Bell Direct, Im still waiting to sort that out before I can get a proper quote with them for my coop.

Anyhoo, in the meantime I thought I'd check with Greenlight to see how they faired. With the following mods declared and partner on policy it'll be £540 with a £250 excess (fixed).

Mods - Lips, side skirt, grill, induction kit, chip, S/S catback exhaust, HIDs, strutbrace, boost gauge, boost controller, non standard 17" alloy wheels, dump valve

Im 30 with 12+ years No Claims, No Points ever, car will be garaged overnight.

Guess £540 isn't that bad but not as cheap as last year \:\(

Now down to £400 with Policy Shop but can't have partner on the policy, but like for like mod insurance etc \:\)

Bell Direct refuse to touch me as I've changed the Dump Valve , just got Noel Dazely/Adrian Flux to try now \:\)

Re: Renewal Time - 15/08/2007 19:42

noel dazely seem to always be more for me.

i am with greenlight still. nobody seems able to beat them for me.

They are however possibly the most miserable and arrogant people ive ever had to deal with.

I had a good "fight" between Adrian F and Policy shop - saved me about £100 while they fought it out. lol.

Re: Renewal Time - 16/08/2007 14:08

Dazely did it for me this year. Previously Greenlight and Bell Direct have come up trumps.

Whatever you do, don't challenge Churchill. Waste of a phone call - unless you wanna shell out another £450 of course \:mad\:

Re: Renewal Time - 16/08/2007 22:44

Called up A Plan, they said they could do it for 379, then called back the Policy Shop who said £375. I stopped there \:D \:\)

If ya not already sorted it, ring a plan back say someones beaten them by few pounds and you'll pay there and then they knocked the admin off for me

Re: Renewal Time - 06/08/2008 08:09

Just to bring this one back up, its renewal time for me. The policy shop is going to be 410. Time to give A Plan a call I think \:\)

Re: Renewal Time - 06/08/2008 09:28

Phoned up Adrian Flux...

339 fully comp with a 250 excess - and all mods declared.

Lips, side skirt, grill, induction kit, chip, S/S catback exhaust, HIDs, strutbrace, boost gauge, boost controller, non standard 17" alloy wheels, non standard dump valve, lowered suspension and uprated shock absorbers

And wife to be on the policy too (Policy Shop said they wouldn't put her on last year) ..not bad at all.. now to see if the policy shop can compete with that!

Re: Renewal Time - 06/08/2008 09:36

Thats a great price Craig. I really don't understand Adrian Flux. The punto is insured with them as they gave a good price, but they quoted me a rediculous amount for the coupe? £1400??

And when i asked them why the rediculous price and they said its because they don't favour the coupe..bad track record

Re: Renewal Time - 06/08/2008 09:49

Its actually 325 as there is an optional 14 pound road rage/personal accident cover charge included in the quote.

Policy shop say they'll struggle to get close to that price too so looks like AF may be the winners this year \:D

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 10:44

Just had a message left on my phone by the Policy Shop. They've managed to reduce the premium

Will have to see by how much though, as still think Adrian Flux is the way forward

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 11:45

Policy shop down to 320 but with a 300 excess. Called back Adrian Flux who have now gone down to 310. Will now call back the policy shop..what fun \:D

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 12:21

Have you tried SAGA \:P
Posted By: Kelv27

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 12:30

I remember i tried confused.com before and SAGA was listed as 'Will not Insure due to age'. WTF do they only insure people over 30 or something

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 13:06

Re: Renewal Time - 08/08/2008 14:46

I've just tried policy shop..and their website doesn't take me anywhere from the 'Type of car' page. What a PITA.

Re: Renewal Time - 14/08/2008 12:05

Give them a call Kelv, far easier \:\)

Re: Renewal Time - 14/08/2008 12:41

I've just renewed with Noel Dazeley. They managed to beat Greenlight's quote. Down by £100 this year despite all my mods and points so can't complain really...but i'm still paying double of what you are paying Craig!
