By the time you have spent £450 + on belts, god knows how much to sort out the rust and damage to the RQP, replaced the seats with leather its simply not worth it
Its cheep, and its cheep for a reason, at least the avert is very honest in that respect so hats off to the seller here

Hi Peachey welcome to the forum.

Once you factor in cambelt change, cracked manifold and dodgy bodywork (what's the deal with the stickers on the damaged rear 3/4 panel??) it doesn't look like much of a bargain anymore.

On the positive side it is the best colour laugh

I'd give that one a miss if I'm honest. Looks rather shabby.

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 09/07/2010 11:15

Leave it, you can get something very together for the total you'd be shelling out on that. £1500 buys you a lot of solid together coops in these times. Sad for us owners (if we are looking to sell), but great for potential purchasers!

Honestly time!

If your going to struggle to find the 1.5-2k needed for the coupe, then struggle with the insurance don't buy one would be the best advice I can offer.
For the most part there solid reliable cars BUT there not cheep to fix or service.
I could go on for pages but Im just going to point you to a wonderful post written by our own Neil

On the cheap green coupe are there 2 tailpipes on the exhaust??? rolleyes

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 09/07/2010 12:32

The green one was previous listed saying it had a blown turbo, which it no longer says, so its either fixed or they forgot to mention it again rolleyes

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 09/07/2010 22:03

I guess it depends why you want a Coupe?

If insurance is an issue perhaps opt for a 16V NA?

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 09/07/2010 22:12

It doesn't mention whether the car has been modified but there is a boost gauge in the dash and a "huge amount of power".

If it is modded you would need to think about what that might do to the insurance and the longevity of the car.

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 10/07/2010 18:13

Second one looks sound, but as always check recent service history as you could easily face spending the £1500 again inside a few months if belts and work is required for mot etc...

Nice colour smile

I'd go for the one that Edz has just put up at £1695...

Whatever you get.......take someone with you because if you don't, you will overlook all the faults,if there are any and just buy it.
Made that mistake before before with an MR2 Turbo.
Beautiful looking car but a dog I found out later.

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 14/07/2010 13:48

going to look at this tomorrow just spoke to the guy sounds genuine cambelt was done at 64k anyone recognise this?

thanks

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 14/07/2010 13:55

If the cambelt was done at 64K, then it'll be ready for another (if you mean the one two or three posts upward).

Check the clutch, turbo, wishbones and CV joints. Look at the oil colour, check the oil cooler and pipes, look for accident damage front and rear (front cross member & rear where the spare wheel sits)

There is also a how to on buying a coop.

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 15/07/2010 15:11

Not much to say, go take a look and see. If its as good as he says its worth the money.

Take the buyers guide along just in case and make sure you HPI check before buying.

Re: wanting to buy thoughts please - 15/07/2010 20:46

Gold wheels, after having a good look at the photo's, i kinda think the wheels suit the green !...Nice little touch with the filler cap as well!.........seems a fine car (if the description is genuine!)

However, i aint to keen on the scotts green !! personal opinion.
