oil temperature gauge?

am thinking of going to look at a cheap 16v n/a,one of the things wrong is the oil temperature gauge not working.
lots of stuff on the forum about the importance of oil pressure but no mention of oil temperature.
Do these cars have oil temp gauges as standard?
Is it a costly item to replace?

All the 16 valve cars have an oil temperature gauge and so do the 20 valve cars up to mid 1997 when it was replaced by a voltmeter. I would guess that the sender for the guage is faulty rather than the guage itself. I can't see this being an expensive repair.
