remote wire (for amp)

Not so much a coupe specific question, but if my stereo works without turning the key in the ignition... is there any purpose in having a remote lead? And if there is, how do i stop the amp running the battery down? cheers, rob.

Yep you use the remote wire from your head unit to turn the amp on. i.e. the amp won't be on without the stereo.

It may be fine to have the amp always on but it depends on the static current drain which varies between amps.

my mate used to take his fuse out as it would drain his battery??

but like has been said, the remote wire is called that for a reason It switches on the amp. stereo goes off,the amp goes off wink

It is well worth fitting the remote wire - no one likes to see a coupe that is being push started as it is a bugger to push.
