3G discs - 30/12/2005 16:17

I have some 20groove 3Gs that im going to be taking off, im not too keen on the noise they make and the misses deffo hates them.
Thinking of getting some standard ones or maybe just drilled, how much are they and where should i get them from?
www.buypartsby.com have Delphi discs for £50 a pair are they any good?

Oh and if anyone wants to make an offer on the 3Gs PM me they have only done about 8k tops and show hardly any wear.

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 16:39

What's wrong with them? Is the noise attributable only to the discs? My 10-groove 3G's are excellent.

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 16:40

I would say go for std discs or the 10grove discs instead as the drilled discs are a water of time. There are some on ebay at the min as well for the coop i think.

Used discs would be best sold with the pads you have with them at the moment so as to best get the most out of your new discs as its never reccomended using used pads on new discs, not good for breaking them in...

They are just nosier under braking than standard discs!

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 18:05

I occasionally get the "propeller" noise under braking (low speed when wet), but the discs are otherwise silent.

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 18:37

so why didnt you go for the 10G discs if you didn't want the increased noise out of interest? The 10G's are hardly any different over standard TBH, just a slight increase in noise when braking from high speed.

Fancy doing a swap with my LE drilled discs? They've done about 12K and are about half worn.

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 19:03

Did originally order the dimpled version but they sent the 20 grooved ones instead, when i rung them they didnt want to know!!
So i stuck them on.
As for a swap, Skins how do they look?? Condition wise?

Re: 3G discs - 30/12/2005 19:16

From memory: they have a very slight lip but do not look too worn (I don't ever brake excessively). I suppose it's difficult to evaluate them precicely without a micrometer, which I don't posess.

A 3 month old pic of them here: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/thorman/Car/DSC03319.jpg

Re: 3G discs - 04/01/2006 00:31

I really like the noise from my brakes, doesnt happen so much now but when i had the pads replaced (just standard ones) for the first month or so the noise was loverly, kinda like a jet engine slowing down or something.
