Kappa inlet manifod

Kappa inlet manifod - 19/10/2016 19:14

Hello all,
I'm wondering is anybody uses kappa inlet manifold?
Friend of mine recently bought 16vt and immediately removed kappa inlet because car didn't perform well. Now his car revs much faster and healthier than mine.
Mine hesitates reving and spools slowly but once in boost it performs well enough.
I am using stock and evocars ignition maps with almost the same performance in low revs.
Both cars has the same specs - big turbos, FMIC, fuel pumps, tubular exhausts..
Opinions ?
Thanks,
Sasa

I have Kappa inlet for more than 10 year on my 16V NA, which is heavily modified...

when I first fit it to the car, I felt some lack of performace down the rpm range, however, engine was stronger above 5000 and could run freely up to 8000rpm, with stock (but ported original 16V it doesnīt run so well in high rpm, but midrange was stronger..)

I have to mention that this behavior was with chip with modified fuel and slightly raised advance (by aroun 1-2°) in whole map..

Last year I tested FC performance chip and it performed wery good with this intake(wery strong midrange, but began lean over 5000rpm..), however, My engine dosnīt have much vacuum (only -0,1bar at idle..), so it had to be live-map (not yet done completely, due to some problems with ignition..) with modified rpm and vacuum breakpoints...

with complete remap, the kappa intake is the way to go...even in NA (look at Thema VIS, which has same intake and 112kW - 10kW moreand revs higher, than coupe 16V engine, with same compression, valves, cams...)

Then I will remove kappa inlet for now until live maping smile
Thanks

Is the Kappa inlet a direct fit into the engine bay? It looks a bit long... I have one which I intend to use when I reassemble the engine after rebuild.

its direct fit, but there is no space between intake and firewall, so everything from firewall should be moved away...

VIS inlet are two different lenght manifolds
divided mechanically, the shorter open at 4000 revs

i have seen Vis manifold in a finnish 16vt

I have dyno graphs before and after Kappa 16vt inlet manifold wink

According to them stock 16vt engine will gain around 10-13hp and 20nm after 5000rpm until redline !

So it is NOT a myth that 16vt engine will gain some ponies just swapping the stock inlet manifold with Kappa 16vt inlet manifold.

Nice little gain in midrange torque. Funny, the torque spikes in the same way it would if the boost had been raised using a PRV.

First dyno graph - original electronic boost control solenoid

Second dyno graph with kappa manifold - manual boost control valve smile because the original solenoid stopped working and the boost was limited to 0.5 0.7 bar
