Lowing...coilovers/springs...

Ok... so i need to lower my coupe asap.

how many lower on springs and how many use coilovers?

after going from springs to coilovers on my hgt i promised myself to never use springs again ...BUT... has anyone lowered on springs with good results?

How low can coupes go on standard rims?(also any pics?)

I had FK coilovers on my Bravo and was very impressed with how comfortable the ride was.

what brans are out there and what are good and which are bad?

Hello Paul, blimey you're keen.

The consensus I've found on here seems to be that lowering really does compromise the (already pretty hard) ride.
Too much for some (like me).
I think cosmograph used to sell a coilover kit, but doesn't now. Don't know the reasons for this though.

mine's dropped 30mm on eibach springs but the ride is not particularly good if the road surface is not even. need to upgrade the standard dampers as well you want increased comfort, bilsteins would be a good combo. konis are good also but a little firm.

people have had mixed results with the fk's/coupes at high speeds on bumpy roads. upgrading to the 100n/mm spring helps.

yes I believe the Eibach/Bilstein combo is what most people recommend

I have the fk's and personally the handling is very good on "non bumpy" roads. However the spring tolerance at the front is less than required and on the motorway if u hit a bump it tends to bounce about a bit. Im going to be investing in a set of 100nm springs to see what the difference is.

Yeah i am keen... lowering my car is a priority for me, as i love the standard wheels but want them bigger, if i lower the car it would give it this kind of look.

If i was to get the FKs and uprate the springs wouldnt the ride be made harder still.

Also, looking at the FK kit i see no major benifit from the base £399 kit up to the £520, i am not fussed about damping adjustment as i have been told in the past that to many people do this and screw up the ride on there cars (not the coupe, just in general) and as for it being stainless steel, it would be nice but not £120 nice, as they wont be seen.

If i was to get spring it would only be untill i can afford coilovers, its a shame that eibachs are so much. i could buy these then through them away for coilovers.

Paul you could sell the springs/shocks later. I think you're right to stick with the standard wheels. You can get hubcentric spacers too, any one using them / got any pics for us?

ok... i will see how much i can get some FKs for with uprated springs for....i worry that w ill get a silly hard ride though
