fk camber set up - 08/07/2006 03:33

being reading through the posts, and was wondering if some one could sugest a camber setting,i dont want the inside of tyres wearing out out all the time, so how much camber? was thinking 1/4 to half a degree....?? also what sort of toe in toe out should i have , standard setting or something different. and lastly heard some one mention about using a special type of washer on the bolt through the strut, to stop it slipping and putting the camber back out?? thanks G

Try it with -1 deg camber and +1mm toe out.

camber : neg 1 to neg 1.5.

thats very pretty aggresive for a lowered car.

makes a load of difference to turn in.

ok thanks guys will go with 1 deg, so long as it dont wear the inside of the tyres out too much. so is every one using the normal washers on the strut? thanks G

I used serrated washers (13mm IIRC) which give a better grip on the strut. One on each side of the strut so you'll need four in total.

just one last thought, does the hight it is set at , effect the camber? if it is lower wont the increase the negative camber. G

right ok, have raised the car so the garage can get it on to the ramps to do the camber, so will tell them to not give as much camber, maybe 1/2 degree then when it is back down should be somewhere near. G

No, just set the camber as you want it, dropping the ride height by an inch wont make much difference to the camber if any.

Yep, have you ever heard of guys dropping from standard springs to Eibachs and complaining of excessive camber ? It doesnt really happen.

Just get them to set it as you want it then wind it down to the ride height you want.

hi fellas,

did some reading on this.

coupe's front is macpherson.

camber does change (but very small) when you lower the car.

if you were thinking that you'll gain enough camber to aid
your turn-in by lowering the car ... well , that's not
going to happen.

the tolerence for the 20vt front camber is something like + .36 to +.80 deg for std setup, quite some margin
