FCSS Clutch

Id just like to say after getting Joe to fit His own paddle clutch into the coupe im well impressed.

It all started with the CG organic which started slipping with in a week of fitting it so i had to find a replacement sharpish. The thing is ive drive loads of different coupe with different set ups and i didn't want to go with a paddle because of the judder but i was going to have to.

Ive driven Joes vincy LE with a helix paddle and that was probably the best paddle clutch so far but i didn't want to spend that sort of money just before xmas and the fact the gearbox will be coming back off in the newyear and the next set of mods to begin.

anyway the other option i had in mind was a CG paddle but i have tried these before and i didn't like them due to the amount of judder, so Joe suggested trying one of his own that hes been testing for a little while on the side of all the other projects he has, so i booked myself in for last Saturday and went up to get it fitted and i must say its a very nice clutch and is holding very well and the judder is minimal.

I know alot of people on here run loads of different clutchs and every one has there own opinion but this is what i have found in the time of drive coupes and would recommend this clutch to anyone planning on running more torque than a organic clutch can handle.

How much torque are you running ?

Adam's coupe is running around 300-320 ft/Lbs but we'll have to change next year as his new setup will be in mid 400's we hope.

These 5 paddle units are in the testing stage but so far they're ticking all the boxes, we've also got a 6 paddle on test but I won't know how that fairs up till after Xmas as the car is in store now till New Year.

with some laughing gas and and the DDS2 we should see the figure easy

as for torque figure like joe said its a rough figure for now but compared to the others ive driven this seams to be a very nice drive able option.

I was running around 320lb/ft with the helix organic. I think nigel was running nearer 340lb/ft. But that's the limits of the organics. Be interesting to get a drive of that if I'm down next year.

The fast road unit that we fitted first should of done the job nicely on its own, but it was run at 1.7 bar a couple of times which made it slip and the rest is history.
His new 5 paddle handles the higher torque without any problem at all, the 6 is even better as we're running our own pressure plate, both are very good for daily driving so next year we'll be able to offer a clutch that's equivalent to the Helix range but half the cost.

to add ross....according to the dyno chart nigel has 389lft and he is stll running a helix organic!

I'm in the market for a new organic clutch and a fellow member recommended me a CG one. I'm now becoming with some doubts after your post

Nelson the CG fast road unit is a good clutch as I ran one at Spa 2010 in my Vincy, my setup included a GTIR and the clutch never missed a beat. If your coupe is 270-290 ft/Lbs it should be fine, Knight7660 is running a 28/71 turbo so it was just a little to much for it.
