I'd try and get the seams in the middle and the weave mirrored L to R.

Re: Carbon wrapped grill - 11/07/2011 17:33

Not expecting it to last too long, it was mainly to cover up my shoddy paint job. If i have to do it again in a few months I'll make a better job of it.

can you lacquer it so it gives it a strong coat and to stop the wrap peeling ?

Re: Carbon wrapped grill - 11/07/2011 22:48

I think you can but the but the carbon effect fades. To be honest it looks good for a few weeks then looks tatty.

Re: Carbon wrapped grill - 13/07/2011 11:55

it does look the nuts. I wonder if there is a wrap to extent the life of the look, something similar to the bumper wraps they do for lotus cars etc.

Looks Koolio.

Can't see how the carbon effect could fade, it's textured, not printed. I used the pucker 3M stuff, it is starting to peel in a couple of places however, maybe from the engine heat.

It does it kind of absorbes the lacquer or something seen it on another forum.

Yeah I remeber doing my b pillers and handles, they looked the nuts untill one hot summers day came around and the wrap started to lift. I used the 3m di-noc also.
