Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 27/05/2010 21:03
I have found that these colours really grow on you. The chamonix green really is something to see when it's buffed up and the wine red is quite eye catching.
My wife loves it, if it were an auto, it would not be for sale.
*Internal message for Sam* Thanks for doing the update Sam - you think I'm bad, wait till you see/hear me at work with my web designers!!

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 27/05/2010 21:10
you are right patch. i dont want to start a huge 'what colour' thread, but apart from sprint blue
, i think the coupe looks good in all its colours.
however, is it just me, or do the lighter colours show off the lines a bit better?
the wine red as you say is quite striking, and the scots green in particular is very classy in my opinion.

I'm almost tempted to get a 16v you know.....
I think the only choices for me are a 16vt or a LE

Yep, I think we can all agree that colours are subjective.
I have found that the non-metallics come up better with a mop, you can really get them looking far glossier with a deeper shine.

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 27/05/2010 21:17
Sam - have you seen Joe's (FCSS) Silver LE - Low mileage, super original condition number 212 I think. I'd have it if I didn't already own 3

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 27/05/2010 21:28
And I would be a very dead man indeed phil, care to explain the ownership of another coupe after explaining how impractical the last one was to the missis?
No, not me as well

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 27/05/2010 21:33
Well, just tell her to mind her own business, bound to sort it out for you that mate!
Tell her silver ones are more reliable - or that non-modified coops are more fuel efficient or that LE's have a better engine or that LE's aren't really classed as coupe's.
OR - Just tell her you were wrong!

Do you use a Cinquecento to round them into the pen at night?
They look all cozy snuggled up together, you cant separate them!
OK soppy mode off.... What a great outlook from your front room!
What is the albino just out of shot?

Don't worry Theresa I know I'm not the only one who thinks Sprint blue looks smart (esp. with black wheels
) Of the 11 or so coops at the Bristol Italian car show 5 were sprinties!!

Another thumbs up for sprint blue, the colour of my first coop!
Now finding myself drawn towards scotts green, like jamie3's in the for sale thread. Very nice can't believe it hasn't sold yet?!

You are all missing out on Phil's subliminal message here.
Phil doesn't have many freinds so he has to arrange his own coupe meet to make him feel like he does

What do you put on? Idealy you'd use different products for metallics.
Mostly american reviews but this stuff gets a good write up:
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/blackfire-wet-diamond-kit-cat1.htmlI've not tried it because my paint is fubar, but certainly will on my next car (if it's metallic).

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 07:45
Not really Dave ..... not if you are using quality products in the first place
Solid colours seem to gloss better IMO and experience on coupe's

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 07:49
Each to their own, I've only used meguiars (not quite in the same league as the collinite crowd) but I preferred the finish of tech wax over canuba.

Cool, what colour coop do you have?

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 07:57
Silver. Lot of hard work and very little reward when you've finished
The upside of that I guess is if I'm feeling lazy I can leave it a month without it looking like a tramp car
I agree you can't get that mirror like shine on metallic paints though, it's all about the sparkles
When the sun catches it just right though the whole day correcting, polishing and waxing feels worth it.

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 08:03
Yep, I've had a Steely
See Patch's Cheap Purchase Project in 'Projects' You should check out the graphite wheels I put on it, they really made the car look the business and helped accentuate the silver paint ... worth considering Dave

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 08:17
Didn't catch your silver project thread - must say I really like the look of the zender skirts and piu, I always think le skirts looks 'stuck on' on silver cars, the lighting of the paint over the curved door against the hard lines of the skirts make it look like the colour doesn't match.
Someone got a real good car when you sold that

Re: Aaaaaah! Bless them - 28/05/2010 08:24
Sure have. Thinking back Dave, the best finish I got on the steely was with using Zymol. It's really hard work to remove (polish off with micro-fibre, then lightly spray water on the area using a clay bar spray and buff again with another micro-fibre).
Clay bar the car first though. Give it a try sometime mate.
Phil
